Is this (http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4XKB&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=8800gt&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0) a good card for the money? It's seems to have a higher core/clock speed than the other gt cards and costs less!?

8800 gt is a good card, and that price is very good too :)

A good card for the money, I presume prices have fallen due to the the newer GT with the "G92 GT" GPU replacing the ones like your chosen monster.

Great cards and that is a good price, wouldnt worry about clock speeds too much as you can turn them up yourself.

Rivatuner displays mine as G92 based :p

Cheers guys, one last question though! I've just noticed it needs a PCI-E 2.0 slot. Is this completely different to a normal PCI-E? I've got a striker extreme (http://uk.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=397&l4=0&model=1439&modelmenu=2) motherboard and I'm not sure if it will go in it. :(

Its says Supports PCI Express 2.0.

It should be fine in your MB.

PCI-E 2 is x16 speed I think and the 1.0 is x8 speed the striker extream has 3x 16x pci-e slots. I am very tempted to get another 8800GTX and have 3 of them running

8800GT and the 8800GTS on the new 65nm process'd G92 chip are performing in some instances better than the old 8800GTX's (only suffer a lack of ram really)...the 8800GTX is pretty much EoL and will be replaced by a new flagship soon.

The 8800GT is the best card for under £200 the GTS is the best current card for under £250.

the 8800GT represents to best value for money card on the markey today and has done since its launch. The new £250 GTS is also good value for money but no where near as good as the GT.

8800GT's are PCI-E 1.00 and 2.00 compatable.

Buy it!

PC Gamer mag recommended the 8800GTS as the card to run the lastest games in decent res's and you can SLI them.. for around 180 quid? Sounds good to me :)
