As my front crank oil seal has started to leak i allways like to treat these problems as "opportunities" to upgrade, and as the crank pulley is 15 years old and numerous have failed i thought i would look at possibly replacing it with a BL lightweight crank pulley, i've read all the theories on here about harmonics and damping but has anyone any real world experiences of these pulleys as the title says good, bad, neutral, and would fittment of one on an auto cause any issues, any views would be greatfully recieved :D

Mine broke and I bought a new stock pully to be on the safe side. I looked at the ebay specials and the like of BL pullys etc, but came to the conclusion that I couldn't go wrong with what was meant to be on there in the first place.

Nic does a great price on the stock crank pully compared to over here in the UK ;)

I've had a BL one on my car since June 04. It's probably covered about 15k miles, with no problems that I'm aware of.

The engine has certainly not been treated with kid gloves, and is quite being pushed when it does come out. The car is fitted with a T67, so its no slouch.

However, I implicitly trust Digsy on here, and he did a write up some time back, about reasons why you shouldn't use one. If I was starting from scratch, I'm not sure I'd use one again.

matt did you notice any difference ? i read an old post where Ian C fitted one and noticed zip, if there is no discernable difference in performance i think i'm leening more towards replacing it with a stock one
