On the way home today I noticed that the A/C light was flashing. I poked it off and back on again a couple of times, and each time it seemed to engage the aircon for a moment, then disengage again.
I tried the diagnostic but that came up clear. However, after restarting the engine there was a rather loud and peculiar 'sproing' noise from under the engine, and again the aircon cut out.
I left it alone until I got home, and now when I engage the aircon there's a metallic sort of 'grinding' noise coming from under the bonnet. I haven't checked it's location exactly, but I'm pretty certain it's likely to be the pump.
Is it best just to replace it? If so, is a cheap s/hand one worth it?
