In the link above, it says that all seatbelts must be checked for condition etc.

Don't know how many MOT testers actually do check though, I know I've never had mine looked at when I've been there for the MOT and some vans at work have been passed when the seatbelts were knackered.

Where I get my Car's MOT'ed they always check the belts. They pull them both all the way out and look at em. And so they should to be honest.

I agree, I assume that the bloke who does my MOT doesn't when I go because I always go to him when I need little things doing and knows how well I look after the car, so just does the main checks. Don't know what he does for everyone else.

I test em all the time.

 

Slight fluffing & fraying is acceptable, however if it is cut or damaged in such a way that it either weakens the webbing itself or restricts the belt from retracting the slack once clipped in with the seat fully in the back postion then it can qualify as an RFR - reason for refusal (failure).
