Hi All

I'm in the process of installing the pioneer avic x1r stereo and as i bought it second hand it has no manual.
Can anyone shed any light on how to wire up the hide away unit
It has 2 wires to connect:
1) pink with 'car speed signal input' written on it
2) purple with 'reverse gear signal input' written on it
Anyone know where to wire these ones up to?

Cheers

Cheers for that

Think i understand about the purple wire going to the reverse light wire (think i need some more wire)
Can i use any wire to extend it?

Unsure about the pink wire going to the cars speed detection circuit - where do i find that?

Anyone?

Unsure where the wire goes to the car speed signal input
Someone mentioned about screwing the wire to one off the screws behind the speedo but they werent 100% sure
Had a look and there are 3 so not sure if and which one

Any help would be appreciated as its my daily car and cant use it at the mo due to the dash being in bits

Just seen this. I used to have one of these. Give me till tomorrow and ill fish out the diagram my friend gave me to hook everything up. I chose to bypass the handbrake switch and didnt do speed detection.

hi ive put one in, its not to hard....dont bother with the handbrake, as loads of functions are unavalibe when the unit thinks the handbrakes off (the car is in motion), pink is the speed, i did that via a splice clip onto the appropriate ecu wire....(this is very important otherwise the navi wont work properly)....the reverse gear one goes to the reverse light, and the brake one goes to the brake light...just splice them in ;) i wouldnt just extend them, buy the wire from pioneer as the have inline fuses in them....

If you dont wire up the brake light to it, the dead reckoning function wont work either ;)

To fool the car into thinking the handbrakes on all the time, just ground the handbrake wire from the X1

Hope this helps !
