Finally managed to get some pics of my finished work.

I only have to do the passenger side door speaker and i'm finished but the one thats on there is good enough till i can be bothered lol.

Ok here is the list....

2x 12" Sonly Xplod Subs 380w RMS each
4x Vibe Slick 60's 80w RMS each
1x 2000w Lanzar 4ch amp (250w RMS per channel) With remote bass boost
1x 600w Boschman Amp (To be replaced with 1000w Lanzar @ a later date)
1x 1.6 farad Powercap
1x Custom Carputer
1x Pioneer Slimline DVD-RW
1x Lilliput 7" Motorized Touchscreen VGA monitor
1x Sony DVD Headunit
1x 3g Card
1x T-Mobile PAYG sim
1x 20gb Ipod
1x GPS Thing
1x 4port USB hub
1x Power Aerial
1x Sheet of 3/4" MDF
1x Sheet of 12mm Ply
1x 5m roll of Leatherette

Think thats about it. Included into that is about 20 hours labour lol.

Actually had a good time doing it. Its been the most complex install i have ever done but it was actually pretty straight foward thanks to the Supra's build quality. Everything came apart and went together perfectly.

I now have Itunes, Limewire, Mediacenter and all the internet available from my car. A bit much i know but i'm a computer buff so right into that kinda stuff. Loads more will be added over time but i'm happy for now.

Still need to put a wireless card into it so that i can copy music video's etc over so its pretty empty for now.

The wiring on the boschman amp is a little messy just now. Reason for that is i am saving for a lanzar amp to replace it. Didn't want to cut holes into the support until i knew they were going to be in the right place. It sounds great just now anyway so i have some other things to do first.

Oh, still needs a good clean too. Its a little dusty. As soon as it was in i just went into the house and crashed. Was knackered. Will get round to it though.

Cheers guys,

The touchscreen needs to be controlled via USB so if you have a dvd player with built in touch screen it won't work no.

It has to be a VGA monitor with USB touch screen for it to work.

PC Spec:

2ghz Processor, built into the board
1gb DDR2 PC4200 Ram
Onboard Graphics 64mb shared
Onboard sound
120gb SATA HDD 5400 laptop
160W M2-ATX Smart Power Supply
Built in Bluetooth
Pioneer DVD-RW
Sirf III GPS Reciever
3G PCMCIA Card (HDPSA or something like that)

Its actually a decent PC considering its for a car. Its running Vista Ultimate just now with no issues at all.

Was very surprised to see it run mediacenter with no problems at all.

Thats cool mate, always fancied a carputer. What kind of download speeds can you expect using 3g?

20-45kbps depending on signal strength, good enough for a car ;)

Nice system, pretty identical PC spec to mine, except I'm not using any form of headunit. This allowed me to chop up a screen mount and fit the touchscreen into the double DIN instead. Currently got a Silabs radio in there, but have an HQCT to go in at some point instead. Having the wireless is dead handy for syncing up, and updates :)

What case did you plump for? I've got a VoomPC-2, which has fitted perfectly under the boot floor on the left hand side.

On the software front I used to use Roadrunner, but using Centrafuse now - much prefer a nice integrated solution :)

Wish I could have a better sound system, but need my boot space quite a few times a week, so made do with a decent 8" sub instead...

Only reason i wanted to keep the radio was boot up time lol. Means i have some sound without having to wait on the PC booting. I flushed the screen when i was putting the system in my MR2 (8" widescreen) but even then i took out the vents so that i could have my radio in. When i got the sup i decided i would keep the dash as it was so opted to buy a motorized touchscreen.

Went for a MCS case. Got almost everything from them, was a decent price too. Think i got absolutely everything for the car for around £600 (including the screen).

I was going to go for car software but decided mediacenter would do the job just nicely. I messed around with Roadrunner for a bit on my laptop but its no good with Itunes and i have my ipod plugged in to the PC.

What boot space ;)

Nice job - not being an itunes or ipod user meant I didn't have to worry about that.

It's a lot cheaper to do than most people think :)

The bootup time doesn't bother me - resume from hibernate doesn't usually take long - I have sound in under 30 seconds from switch on, and thats good enough for me :) I'm hoping the HQCT radio will be better - the Silabs is crap. I believe HQCT is based on a car radio chip, so hopefully will be good

Next you guys will be on about customising your own Linux O/S so your boot up time is next to nothing! Sorry the IT admin coming out in me again .... wish i had the time to do something like this myself!

Two versions - an internal and external. It's a USB, but also requires a line-in connection as well because it doesn't do Audio over USB.

I've gone down this route rather than head-unit, because I've got it all integrated from a single control point - bluetooth handsfree/sms, sat nav etc... and it was nice to only have to worry about the one audio source.

Someone else at work went down your route and relocated his headunit to a cubby hole under a centre arm rest on his car, done a very good job he has too :)
