View Full Version : Boot build so far....
Well, I got the MDF cut to shape last night and layed in the boot of the Sup to see how it looked... almost spot on first attempt, just needs a few bits trimmed here and there to make a better fit.
I'll get some photo's tonight of it layed in the boot to give you an idea of what it should roughly look like. I still need to cut out the two amp holes, but thats going to be the trick part. :)
Now all thats left is to lay all the cables and replace the front and rear speakers.!!! :( :( :(

Splash a load of dynamat around, make a few connections here and there, screw all the bits of wood together, lick the cuts on your fingers, trim the newly fabricated parts, repair any bit's of broken trim, adjust a few settings, cure a few rattles, re-adjust settings....
Then...
Decide that bits need improving and start again...
Damn good fun!
thanks Matt, I didn't need reminding about all that lot too.!!!
I built 3 sub enclosures in my Renault 5 before I decided I liked it.
Well, the cables are now all in place, wasn't as bad as I thought as everything practically just 'pops' out.
I now need to dynamat the boot (Mr Harwood, you there!), and start fitting all the mdf.
I'm not sure about the sub box at the moment, I may make up something a little bigger and put x2 12" subs in, instead of just 1.

Probably not... Wedding aniversary... depends if I'm allowed out to play;)
When's the next meet/show? - I can send them to you but that's almost the price of another roll:( - I'd rather spend a tenner on fuel and meet you half way...
Dont forget the Bluewater meet on Sunday 2nd June...thats only a week away now.

That's nice and easy for me too :)
Ok then, I'll go with that. I'll collect them from you at Bluewater.
Got the dynamat down in the boot yesterday (thanks Mat) and got the sub box and amp rack (false floor) put in too.
Then I realised its going to have to come out again when I come to fit the uprated fuel pump.! bugger!!! :(
Looks ok, but had a little hick-up with one of the amps... it decided to fall off the rack. Stronger mounting blocks required I think!
Things to do......
Pick up x-overs from a mate
lay even more speaker wires down
find a place to put tweeters (other than stock location)
Take out rear seat pannels and hacksaw out a hole
Make up new mounts for a pair of 7x10's
Buy a new battery
Listen to music....

Weight induction! :baa:
Na, I call it much needed improvements.
I cant listen to those stock speakers for much longer, and I miss the bass that I had in the 5 turbo. I listen to CD's wandering what happened to all the bass, you dont even notice it on a stock system.

Don't worry Barry, I'm with you all the way...
You can always improve a good car;) And the sound system has to be the crappiest part of the Supra
Almost there now, put the kenny tweeters in last night, and fed the last of the speaker wiring through.
All I need now is to pick up my new battery and also pick up a pair of kenny crossovers from a mate and connect it all up.
Oh, and Matt, thanks for those battery terminals, they look mental, I'll be keeping those thanks. And that material!!! I was only expecting enough to cover the speaker mounts on the door cards, but noooooo, you send me enough to re-trim the entire boot build too.!!! :)
If you going to the TorqueIC day this weekend I'll chat to you then.
:baa:
Barry have you got any photos of the build you could post?
cheers
Not yet as it doesn't look very tidy, I've still not finished covering it all, but I'll try and get some this weekend and post them up.
