hi,

Need to confirm how to use the manual option on the auto box and confirm the correct petrol to use on the car.

Another thing when the car is pushed hard in third gear the car pauses as if the petrol isn´t going through properly and then all of a sudden it pushes hard again and when this happens the injection warning light comes on. hope you can help thanks!

Oh yeah forgot to mention that the car has been decatted, could that be the reason for the car to fail at around 4000revs in 3rd???

how do you use the manual select button on the automatic please????

Can be, you should really have a boost gauge so you can see whats going on.

Removing the restriction/cats in the exhaust allows the car to breath better which can result in quicker response (possibly spikes) and more boost.

Boost cut is approx 14.7psi stock, if you want to raise the boost cut you will need an FCD.

Do some searching, there are tons of threads on here regarding this stuff.

Wouldn't put 95 near my car. 99 all the way.... V-power. Think it makes about £3 of difference per fillup lol.

Is jap fuel not 100 ron? Hasn't it been that way for a while? Never heard of 95 in a turbo other than UK cars. Anything japanese with a turbo in it i was told to use at least 98.

FCD is not the same as a boost controller. FCD stops the ECU from killing the fueling when it detects boost going higher than the (stock) safe limit. A boost controller artificially raises boost. Decatted turbos would ideally need both.

Do a search on these things as there's a lot of a good information that's already been posted. Also have a read about "BPU", which describes all the recommended supporting modifications for a fully decatted TT Supra.

As for the auto question... I used to have a BPU auto. It's easy... Just switch between second and drive (3rd) as required when driving aggressively (especially when approaching corners and roundabouts), to avoid an unexpected kickdown. At other times, just leave it in drive. That's what I used to do.

  • 2 weeks later...

Only just got my TT Jap spec Supra (upgraded from Impreza ) but the only fuel i have ever used is either Shell V-Power or Tescos super (both 99 ron). Jap cars are mapped to run on high octane fuel as i believe they use something like 103 ron petrol out there!

Which FCD would you guys recommend as thats the only thing my car came without. Also the guy i bought it from says its running 1.2 bar boost which strikes me as a bit high, is this ok though?

Thats what mine is running. I wouldn't be surprised if your fuel cut came in at that though.

I think the HKS one is regarded as the best, little costly though. Think its over or around £100. The FCD on my MR2 cost £30 or something like that.

Not sure what one my car has, it has a mines ECU so might not need one.

Cheers guys, i do have a Blitz boost gauge and AEM boost controller. Whilst on the subject i was out driving yesterday and when i floored it the light around the outside of the AEM boost controller went all the way around clockwise, and then the whole ring light started flashing at me red. Had to press and hold one of the two buttons to reset it. Anyone have any idea why it does this?

only use high octane in your tt, they use 100 in japan;) sounds like your hitting fuel cut mate, DON,T JUST FIT A FCD, without finding what the boost is doing as you will blow a piston, you will need a restrictor ring or boost controller to adjust boost;)

Its only done it that once and i didnt get the peak it recorded, dont really know how to use the controller yet, and i cant find an online manual :search: only had the car 2 days so not had much chance to drive it hard with the weather an all, but i think the best thing for me to do will be to get her on a rolling road somewhere and checked over.

Anyone know wheres reasonably close to Lincoln that specialises in Supras???
