Always looked after me with my 3 vehicles
But One thing missing on your list above is I can not see agreed value section listed or am I going blind :(
I've had no problem with them and very understanding company when I had trouble suppling my paper work when needed.
Need to insure my 2nd car so will call soon!
But One thing missing on your list above is I can not see agreed value section listed or am I going blind :(
Indeed, that was the only disappointing thing I found when taking my policy out.

I'm not going to deny that £800 is a significant amount of money on anyones insurance policy, I'm shocked we were so far out on that one.
How long ago was that quote ? Could you give me a few more details on that quote... the excess, was it a 10 month policy etc... we'd like to revisit the quote to see why we were so far out. If you could send me a PM with these details and your full name that would be helpful to us. We are confident we can give you great prices and would like to encourage club members to try us out

Agreed value: this is still available for existing customers who were placed with ensign, unfortunately we are currently unable to offer this for new customers
Any chance of "Agreed Value" coming back - mine is due in Feb and it's the single thing that would make me change !
Cheers
G
When I called last Feb I was told by a young lady that I needed a Tracker fitted - I take it now that I was just unlucky and got a new member of staff ?
23 years or older???
I insured mine with you and im under 23.

We have been pushing to get the agreed value back for a while but as it stands I'm unable to give a definitive answer to that..
With regards to the tracker, we do not ask for a tracker on the majority of our policies, however if the car has a high value we may insist on a tracker being fitted.

There are varaibles to this, you drive an NA which is easier to place than a single or twin turbo.

Just so we all know the situation re Trackers, what's the "high value" threshold.
I was looking at £12K and live in Wiltshire.

Like i said, my car came with the wheels and bodykit, spoiler ect on it.
If i write her off then ill use the cash to buy a RX7 - i wouldnt get another supra.
Id just prefer a payout (god forbid) rather than the hassle and arguing of ''the extras''..... I just want the mods covered for legal reasons, so if i did prang it then they would pay out rather than get told to sod off as i had alloys or a aftermarket bumper on it.
Just gave you a phone,
£200 cheaper than the quote you gave me yesterday, still a hundred more than adriun flux, but a lot better than yesterday, and it felt like hte peson I spoke to today was trying, maybe next year, ill be 23 then.

Ive read so much bad stuff about elephant when it comes to paying out, so if you total your car dont expect to get a reasonable pay-off first time, you will have to argue and refuse their offers until they come up with a decent one. Im talking thousands under the market value here.
There is a reason it is so cheap, they are a real pain if the worst comes to the worst, also if by any chance you havnt declared all your mods or missed something by mistake, they have been known to not pay out at all.
Im glad they are so cheap tho as i just take their quote to other insurance companies and tell them to match it!
One thing about Sky is they are great with modifications, Elephant are a pain in the ass, half of the stuff cant be listed, say for example a boost controller and there is loads of other bits i just cant be bothered thinking.
Sky have no problem with mods as long as you list everything, havnt had any extra premium added if i add a mod neither. Oem bodykit etc.
Dont expect Sky to be cheaper for every single supra owner, there is too many variables involved, its like me with Adrian Flux, i cant get a decent quote of them at all, wheras some people on here have got good quotes from them.
I will give you another chance when renewal time comes round.whent with adrian flux this time £350 cheeper with agreed evaluation.

I'm glad to see our rates are getting better. As mentioned above by Rayman (spot on post  ) there are many variables with insurance quotes, all cases are different but as long as you are over 23 with ownership we should be there or there abouts with the price.
We like to think that our personal service and Supra knowledge puts us head and shoulders above the competition, and we are the official Club Insurer after all.

Well my cars renewal date is the 10th of Jan with sky, I hope too see a nice renewal quote on my door very soon mate ;)
As said above, Elephant are pretty useless with mods - the price goes up a lot when you declare them and trying to explain to the chimp on the other end of the phone that your wheels/exhaust/whatever are aftermarket and not "Toyota optional extras" is hard work. And they try to rip you off with your renewal.
I got a quote with Sky about 3 weeks ago and the bloke I spoke to was helpful and knew what he was on about, but unfortunately the quote was £1150 more than A-Plan...
Reguarding your agreed values policy thats no longer available to new customers, should it not be taken of your advertisment in this months copy of banzai?
certainly agreed value is what sent me your way in the first place.
tell me something though, how do insurance companys reach a value to payout on a write off..
Hey guys, got a snotty letter from you today saying if you dont get the details within 7 days of the date on the letter, you'll keep all my money and cancel the policy.
1. I've not had an previous reminders.
2. Thats a bit harsh !
While I admit, I've not sent them back yet, because I was waiting for my license to come through as I've moved plus I've been very busy.
Also, I didnt mention my membership when I got my quote, do I get the 20%?
Will call you tomorrow.

Is it because I'm 21 that you won't insure me fully comp? (Although when I did the quote with you I was only 20) As there is no way I am going 3rd party!
The service has been pretty good for me during the last 2 years. I've had a couple of issues but they have been handled well after a phone call.
Even with my BMW tank (which initially had a renewal quote of £980) they managed to match my best quote and reduced it to £280. Seemed to be some sort of mix up on the renewal and was quoted for a single Supra.

2. Thats a bit harsh !
I had the same situation following my 2nd renewal last year, even though I'd sent details 2 weeks earlier. A call to Sky sorted it and I was told all was fine and to ignore the letter.
I've found that any problem I've had has been solved with a phone call.
Sky won't be able to provide the best quote (or even a good quote) in all curcumstances, but thats the insurance business for you. They generally appear to be better catered for older (23+), more expeienced drivers, but thats fair enough when dealing with high powered RWD cars.
I was a bit cheesed off when I sorted my renewal out in August, Adrian Flux quoted me £396 including agreed value, Sky initially said £6XX but then that they would "match" Adrian Flux - except that the agreed value would be an extra £70. So not matching them at all, then. I left Sky as a result :( although I was happy prior to this. I now wonder if I've had value for money cover in the 2 years prior to this as I was always happy to support "the club's insurer" without shopping around that much.

Hey guys, got a snotty letter from you today
Hi,
this is standard procedure with any insurance company. By law we need to receive all of the required documentation. We send you a letter and some forms to fill out initially, on the letter it states that the forms will need to be returned within 7 days. After 14 days if we haven't received the forms we will send out a politely worded reminder letter, it is certainly not a 'snotty' letter. After a further 7 days we would send out a more strongly worded letter which is sent by recorded delivery. Communication is crucial here, if you are missing a piece of documentation we can quite happily give a time extension, all it takes is one phone call to our customer service team for this to happen. Also, again a quick PM to myself with your full name and policy number is a great way of communicating on any issues like this.
Thanks
Ollie

In a nutshell, yes.
I've just had my renewal docs through from sky and been delighted that the premium has hardly budged from last year. OK, the agreed value has increased but I think this is small price to pay for, what has been for me, an excellent, friendly and FLEXIBLE company.
An added bonus for me was that I have taken them up on their breakdown cover as RAC had increased my cover by around 40% and that after a 10% discount for no claims!!!!! - and saved myself £50 which offsets a lot of the agreed value fee.
New photos will be winging their way to them this weekend for the agreed value but I have been delighted with the service so far.
Thanks sky!! ;)

Ollie I also had this problem-adrian flux almost halved sky's quote and provided full comp cover, plus cannot be beaten when i came to insuring the gt four as 2nd car

Could someone from sky let me know why they advertise they do agreed values?
I understand you only do it for existing customers, however should there be something in the advert saying this? i know its a good way of getting new customers to ring up for quotes, but isnt it slightly misleading.
I cant see any small print explaining this, maybe i have just got the wrong end and i am completely wrong?
Look forward to your reply.

We have asked for the Banzai advert to be amended so you should not see this in future magazines.
We still advertise the agreed value on our website as it is available for the Classic Car insurance policies we do.

no, you've taken that the wrong way. We are happy to answer questions on the forum but that question was going a bit off topic hence why it was probably better asked in a private message. Thank you for clearing that up. Perhaps there should be a new Sky insurance discussion thread then? So that people can ask these questions and they are not confined to a PM or clogging up your phone lines......... FAQ so to speak, especially with all the new policies etc.

We can do classic policies but bare in mind there is quite strict criteria that goes with them as well as the driver not being able to build no claims discount. If the vehicle is over 15 years old, is garaged, mileage is restricted and the customer can provide evidence of a second (or main) vehicle we can certainly look at it. The vehicle would also have to be standard, no mods.

Will Sky be looking for other under writers with more favourable classic policies? I mean it's easy to get classic policies for modded cars over 10 yrs old, without being garaged but limited mileage and no increase in no claims bonus. On the Rotary forums most people are on classic policies as it's much cheaper.

Ring them on Monday and find out, insurance is about the individual.
I vowed after my last Supra insurance never to go with Sky due to them being no where near the cheapest insurer. However decided to give them a call re a J-Spec and the insurance was still the same as lasttime :(...........not looking good.
However then the UK spec came up which I got a quote on from the following
Confused.com £761
Adrian Flux £798
Elephant: - £882
Bell : - £637 (£1000 excess)
Directline:- £1446
Then I gave Graham a call @ Sky (after this thread came up), all details taken and came back with the cheapest quote out of the lot and thats without even taking the best price so far from me!!
Even just called Richard re an issue with Toyota fitted alarm on how to prove it had one, he quickly looked up on the Thatcham website, gave the details that Michael supplied in previous thread (thank you Michael :d And I believe Matt Harwood for giving the info to Michael) and all done, no need to prove it. I had genuine thoughts it was going to be a complete ball ache.
So well pleased, my insurance has halved and it has installed more confidence in me re Sky.

Yeh they do and admiral too, they are the same, run by the admiral group all three.
I got elephant to match the cheapest quote I got, which was from admiral. Totally bonkers, they are the same company! I'll give Sky another go next year when I renew but they were so far off the mark last year I didn't even call 'em this time round. Just for the record, £380 fully comp, 3 years NCB, 33 years old. And would you believe, if I put my girlfriend (who only got a license in 2006) on the policy it gets £50 cheaper, yes cheaper! Insurance companies are nuts.

What are your criteria though? I have just had a quote from Sky which I consider high looking at the other thread on insturance that is going on. A-Plan are also cheaper. Sky - £680 + vat including all mods with 4k millage limit. Aplan - £495 inc VAT with 5K limit and all mods declaired.
Im 28 with 8 years NCB, clean Licence, car is Garaged, 19" wheels, 95 BPU TT.
Sky beat my renewal quote from A-Plan this year, but then A-Plan came back with an even better quote. No doubt Sky may well have matched that, or maybe even beaten it, but as my insurance ran out today and I was at work yesterday, I couldn't keep ringing around. I stayed with A-Plan as it was easier for me to do so, but you can't knock Sky's service. I'll be trying you guy's again next year. :)

Please try us again next year and hopefully we'll be more competitive.

Cheers Ollie,
I am somwhat confused by the quote from Sky though. I have received the written quote today and its £680 in all duty and tax. But you quote excluding the discount for members of the club meaning this quote is more than competative with APlan. Im going to call tomorrow to clarify the situation but without explanation or the quote in writing I would not have none that there should be 20% off that price?

Well i have met it for the last two years, so can't see a problem there, so maybe loyalty will also count for something;) so i will be looking forward to a better quote this year.
sky wouldnt even insure me, going with adrian flux £1001.78 on n/a import. im 29 with 2 years no claims. 6 points!
i'm 26, 9 yrs no claims with 3 points. Got a quote form Luke @ Sky 29/10/97 for 93, twin turbo RZ with body kit, 19''wheels and exhaust, £643 was very please:D. Called back 08/01/08 gave them the quote refference number stating wanted to take out the cover out on identical supra but only difference was had 18'' wheels not 19'' wheels was informed that would be £870:blink:!!!!!!!!!! When asked why said because the wheels where different and insurance companies change their quotes. Gave me another company to call that they recomended who quoted me £2500:blink:!!!!!!!!!!!!
Called up adrian flux quoted me better on existing spec and £105 extra for the spec I am changing to single conversion, strutbrace, intercooler, bigger brakes, seats, exhaust etc. Called Sky back for quote on new spec would not provide a quote
I have just done a compare quote om moneysupermarket for my insurance renewel and as i have a import 93 n/a i always have to go back into the search after it finds my car through the reg and change it to a 93 TOYOTA SUPRA SZ (NON TURBO) which i believe is only available as an import anyhow . yet when the list of quotes come up , which are very competetive and u click on more details they always say we presume your car is not a grey import ????? confusing or what . i did ring up a competetive quote and after asking about this error they didnt seem to have a clue and said that they definately dont do imports . Does anyone know a list of insurers that do? apart from sky il try them tomorrow .
took a week of waiting for sky to call back and in the end i called them back to tell me they couldnt quote me

I cannot explain the lack of call back, my apologies for the bad service you have received there.
If you, or any other member has a problem with communication from Sky, drop me a PM and I will arrange a call back for you. I can usually arrange this within an hour (when I pick up the PM)
We would have had our reasons for not quoting you, possibly your age/lack of experience/postcode... without knowing your details I cannot give you a definitive reason.
I'm happy to find out why we couldn't quote, I'll send you a PM to sort this out.

i recentley had a quote of sky. spent 20mins of my life on the phone.....only to be told that they couldnt get anywhere near my policey price with livingstones.
livingstones policey is a agreed value one aswell!

Unfortunately what is good for some customers is not good for others. I know I say this all the time, but we cannot be cheapest all the time, otherwise we would be the only insurer in the UK!
Baz, feel free to try us again come renewal time, hopefully we will be more competitive next time around.

Hi Micheal,
as we are a broker we are unable to introduce this ourselves, and as such we do not write the policy wording.
The insurance industry as a whole will be looking at what direct line have introduced and may well follow suit if it is something they feel should be included.
My personal view is that it is a fantastic idea to introduce this as why should the customer be penalised for something like this which is beyond thier control.

Well just received my renewal quote from Sky, and "quote me happy" dose not apply:(
thought it was going to be cheaper? £541 which is about £10 up on last year, now i haven't bothered to get a quote from another company yet, like A plan etc, but I'm sure it will be considerably less, and from what i have read your quote dos not include agreed value, which i have always had:(
So I'm not impressed!

Err well no, I lived in a 3 bedroom house(where they would quote me), 3 miles down the road from my new 5 bedroom house and my guess what my house insurance has gone down! because of the area I live in! Which just for the record is a "area of outstanding natural beauty" and a "area of conservation" and is owned by the national trust. This is literally 25 yards from my house, im not joking apart from the odd neighbour the main thing round here is squirrels, ducks(bottom of my garden is a massive duck pond) and dear. That agreed value has alot too answer for, just looked in march issue of japanese performance and there are 2 brokers that still do this. The sooner sky bring it back the better.

That's the weird thing my insurance on the Supra (A-Plan), house (Tesco) and other new car(Direct Line) have all gone down in price :search:
you know ive just renewed with sky and my premium has gone up by a bit too
even after moving house and the new garage is alarmed too:search:
what is the deal with sky ATM ollie?
i also had a look at a few other places for insurance and there were a few lower prices i must admit (but i do like the service at sky);)

I PM'd Sky a week ago to notify them that I'll be moving back to London and today I've received a letter from them in the post saying that my premium will increase by 420 quid! :scare:
This is must really be a joke! I believe that I'm already paying way too much for only a third party, theft and fire considering my age, the amount of years I hold a licence and that I've never had an accident or being involved in one before.
Fair enough, there's more dangers in London but the car will be kept on a private carpark off the street.
I think Sky are really taking the p*ss here, I know they're just "the middlemen" but I doubt their abilities to negociate policies with insurers. I mean c'mon, 420 quid for moving from Bracknell to Ealing, total 1500 a year for a third party including the member's discount... Yeah right.
I'm trying to find out if I'll have pay anything for cancelling, does anyone know?
Rant mode off - thanks for reading :)
Why would you insure a Supra 3rd party?
Why would you insure a Supra 3rd party?
Because they were asking even more for fully comp.
Not that i have had any dealings with sky yet, but i was just wondering how long they are the club insurers for, is it a yearly vote? Maybe the Mods will know?
I am with Michael on this, unless your car is a shed, and you have the cash to recover the vehicle (and everything else that you get with fully comp) I just do not understand why people consider third TPFT.

This is not the point. That's another discussion. The reason I posted on here was to share with you guys my experience to have your views if it's normal to get such an increase on an already expensive premium.

The agreed value is worth it's weight in gold IMO :D It's pretty cheap to have (so long as you're an existing customer) and provides a huge reassurance if the worse should happen.

Why do you say that? Is it purely on the fact that if you wrote it off you would get what you think it is worth and not the book value?

Nothing, I am just struggling after forking out over 10K of insurance over 8 years as to why I am paying for a s ervice I have not yet used. And TBH I have paid the car off, so won't hurt if i get 8 or 10k for it if i was foolish enough to take it into a ditch. Just trying to get my head around it after another years premium goes up again!!!!

Yeah obviously, I just think I have got to the stage where I wouldn't mind the risk of not paying for agreed value and if it came to the crunch (excuse the pun!) take whatever I am offered. i just wanted to see if anyone has been in the same sitaution and regretted it (or not?) I fully believe in listening to people with experience, nothing more valuable (engineer i'm afraid!;))
I know some people have had some good experiences with Sky. But I've not once been quoted anything remotely competitve.
They were over on my BMW's and my MR2's, a few hundred. They quoted me double on the M6 compared to A-Plan and blamed it on my postcode. Quite funny, as Steven Gerrard lives 3 roads down, less than 1/4 mile from me.
Seems a case of when they're good, they're good. When they're bad ....
Is that just for the T61 Supra?
Yeah.
How much extra do you have to pay for the agreed value? And how easy is it to get them to agree what you think your car is worth.

Hi,
just to clear this up.. as things stand we are unable offer agreed values for new business customers, we can only offer this for existing customers who had the agreed value last year.
The agreed value option costs £72.50 for the year, the majority of that going to the actual insure for administration costs.
How do we agree a value? We ask the customer to state the value of the car based on how much they would be willing to pay for it (including mods) OR how how much it would sell for, to a like minded car enthusiast. We also ask for colour photos, MOT certificate and we have a list of all modifications. Generally we find that the customer will put down an accurate value for the vehicle.

Or would this put people off?

I think it would put people off. Especially if the price has increased during the year. Can you imagine filling the car up with petrol and seeing a sign showing the price of petrol last year as a comparison. That would give me the right hump!

My renewal doc says I should call to discuss adding agreed value... I presume this is still unavailable to me as I couldn't have it last time, so that's potentially annoying.
I dont know if it makes a difference but ive always taken it our every renewal and I think have had it 5 yrs now. So long before they stopped offering it.
I thought Agreed value renewal was only avaliable if you had agreed value year before not just only if you renewed...hence why ive always just taken it. I may be wrong...it wouldnt be the first time.
It makes a big difference :)
If you already have it you get to keep it, even if you are a high risk, if you don't have it already then you can't have it.
Unless something has changed, if it hasn't then mentioning it on my renewal is a big stinky tease.

To be honest if it wasnt for agreed value i'd of gone where its cheaper but its just not worth the risk. Id be devastated to crash my car, but at least with agreed value I wouldnt have to worry about the fight to get the money I wanted for it.
Shame about this as mine is due in 2 weeks and i want agreed evaluation.
Thats the problem i got, at least there are insurance places that still do them. Apparantly the other supra club has a club insurance that gives a discount and agreed values to new customers ;)
Have tried Sky Insurance for a quote for my 1994 N/A Auto (Exhaust, Tein Super Street Susp & 19" Alloys) 4yrs no claims, 22yrs old. Sadly they could only quote for third party :( Had quite a good renewal quote from Adrian Flux of £922 Fully Comp, will prob have to take them up as Sky cannot help me :(
I've been with sky insurance for 2 years now and had agreed value on my policy and been very happy, but about 3 months ago i let my policy run out why i did some work on my car, 2 months ago i phoned them back up to take my insurance back up and they said i could not have agreed value on my policy because my insurance ran out 4 weeks ago and agreed value is not offerd to new customers. i still took out my insurance with them but not happy.
Well Ive just renewed my insurance with them £805 including agreed value. Which i'm happy with. I think I could of got cheaper off Aplan (they kept calling me to say they could go cheaper) but I said to sky if you can hit £800 with agreed value ill pay right now. Agreed value is a winner for me :)
The agreed value will be the winner for me, without that i dont reckon we would get know where near the kind of money we put into our cars back should something happen, thats why i cant go with the club insurer :(

Please can I get a callback Sky otherwise I'm going to have to take my hard-earned elsewhere?

Stick with the company that gives you agreed value, how much do you think you would get without it :(

The chap may be an existing customer of one of our insurers, if this is the case we can do an agreed valuation.

Having complained about not getting a callback I think it only fair to say that having contacted me today, Ollie has come through for me with a great deal including cover for my alloys (my only mod lol) and agreed value! Cheers Ollie and Sky! Very pleased with the end result. :D

Okay... Just a little confused here...(And I'm going to make sure this is transparent for others to see)
Just received notification of my renewal...In the paperwork there are two forms.
1. QBE Renewal invitation which has a premium quoted of £380
2. The sky letterheaded paperwork which contains a nice box with premium £516.00
Spoke to Jason on the phone who said that there are additional addons such as a £21 for uninsured loss, plus some other bits... Firstly they aren't detailed on the form and I like to know what I'm paying for, secondly why is there a £136 difference?
Needless to say I await your response on this one with interest.
There is a 13% admin fee listed on my renewal if you pay monthly (along with the £21 for "uninsured loss recovery") so maybe it's £380 from the insurer, SKY add the £21 to make £401, then the 13% to make £453.13 and the remaining ~£63 is profit for SKY?
Or maybe they included the £49.95 AA cover?
Mine is due for renewal on Monday, I'm waiting for 5 quotes to come back from other companies first though.

Well i have a bit of a delimma with sky at the mo.
I have used sky for a few years and they are our main insurer over on the GT4OC of which I am still Chairman (no on else wants the job).
I contacted sky when I brought the supra and had the policy transfered over for £40 and was told that come renewal time (now) they would do be the best price. At this time I wasnt a member here and had no card or number, Anyway my renewal quote came through and it seemed a lot higher than my old modified ST205 GT4, so I phoned up and asked if they could relook at the quote as I was now a member of the club only to be told the quote already took this into consideration:rolleyes: How could that be, how did they know I have joined, no-one has asked for my membership number.
Im also not too happy as I was speaking to a few owners at silverstone on sunday and folk with big modded TT supra's seem to be paying less than my quote, now I know every quote will depend on lots of factors but none of it made sense to me as I have a great driving record and live in a very rural area, car garaged, cat 1 etc.....
Can you help me please Ollie;)

Probably the discount from your other club? I changed from a Supra to a 200sx I was not part of SXOC at that time but because I was a member of Mkivsupra.net they gave me the discount.

I [-]hope not[/-] doubt it but give them a call and ask :)
Graham @ Sky called me tonight to remind me that my insurance is due and would renew automatically if I didn't cancel it by Saturday afternoon, most companies would keep quiet and grab some money. So that's a nice touch.

Thats a fair point james, but I was told when I swaped the policy over that a N/A supra would be no more than my Modded GT4 yet it has come up £60 more expensive:(

So far i've been gettin quotes of around £2100 on a non turbo, and £2500-£2600 on twin turbo. That's TPFT, Fully Comp puts it up quite a bit. Seems very low to me though?? Suprised anyone would insure me at all

to be honest sounds bout right. Although chances are they havent got them as imports and Uk TT is gnerally cheaper to insure, when i was 18 i checked out supra insurance and mine was quoted around £2500 - £3000

Bait...
Got quoted from Sky, good but still high compared to some in this thread.
I'm 48, and my records squeaky clean, full no claims etc
I'm puzzled at some low low figures quoted in this thread...is Dorset highly loaded or something ?
