And they were - thankyou sky, nice price :) £797 on a 96 TT (after taking into account paying over the year rather than upfront), £350 excess, I'm 23, 3 years NCB and an accident (my fault) 5 years ago.

Free legal cover aswell apparently, which I've never gone for before but does sound handy :)

All I have to do now is to get the car :D

Not heard back on my agreed value, i held the process up as i needed to get finished photo's of the car to you but its now been a while since youve had them, ive called your office and was told you'd be getting back to me.

Its ok as ive just received the paperwork so thanks to Sky for sorting this out.

One question ive got but nothing to do with the agreed value, could you do daily or weekly insurance on my Landcruiser ?

I rang Sky 1yr ago when I first got my '95 standard J-spec. Was quoted £1400 by tesco for fully comp with a cat1 on it. Rang Sky up and they said that was a good quote!

Bearing in mind I'm 29 now, have 6 points granted  3 from '06 and 3 from last year, but have only had 1 accident in 12 years of driving, is this roughly what Sky would be asking too?!

Thinking of getting rid of her simply because of the cost of ins and fuel nowadays, but if the insurance came down a few hundred, i might be able to keep it

My quotes were coming up the same price due to me not having more than 1 years NCB. So i tried Lancaster Insurance and got it for £660.40 fully comp :)

Hi Ollie, My insurance runs out next week, Now i know i keep raising this issue about agreed value, However its something i really want after spending money on the supra, i have had a couple of quotes for insurance, i just wondered if its still out of the question that you do agreed value for new customers? If by any means you can arrange agreed value i will ring you other wise i wouldnt want to waste my time or yours, If you could get back to me on this, Thanks.

Insurance renewal came up today, only had the VVTI since April so it was on the UK spec policy.

Went through A-plan and Greenlight to see what came back. Aplan did £444, Greenlight did £560.

Pete has the same car as me and said Admiral do him proud. Gave them a call and they quoted £355. A-plan fell over with shock and said they couldnt go any lower.

Then gave Sky a call and they brought their renewal of £540 down to £374 with like for like replacement on mods (which admiral dont do).

So Im with Sky again for another year. Having spent a bit of time with Sky I know how their insurance works and why they cant quote like A-plan straight off but can match pretty much any quote.

So your best bet really is to shop around and find the very best quote you can, and then see what Sky can do to match it or beat it. If they cant beat it you can then go with the lowest quote from the other provider.

I know everybody expects them to quote the best straight out of the box but a little bit of groundwork can pay dividends. I would have been happy to have them match the A-plan quote until I saw what Admiral can do. I saved myself £170.

Now I just need them to sponsor Suprapod 08 and Im happy.

Hi,

you also have PM.

With regards to renewals, we have been instructed to put our renewals up so it is actually rare to see a decrease. We do search the market for the best possible rate, if you manage to get a better price elsewhere we will try and make use of our price match service.

Thanks

I had an agreed value on my policy with the Supra and paid the £72 back in Jan, not making it transferable to my MR2 is a bit of a joke and wanting £72 if I did..... I really feel its money making...... so I said no as I can't justify paying for something I already have on my policy just because it was with my previous car?

Hi,

I can look into this and see if there is anything I can do. The agreed value fee goes straight to the insurance company this is why it is being charged again.

Ollie, received my renewal notice today. To say I fell through the floor is an understatement. It has exponentiated from £750(?) to £1280!
To others reading this, I have not made a claim this last year, or indeed, in 31 years of driving. It is an NA, locked up in an upmarket area of Liverpool, with a Cat! alarm system. I also only use it of a weekend, and as such have a 5000 mileage restriction!
I will not hear of it being a postcode issue, as there has been several reports lately that Liverpool lags far behind the likes of London, Manchester, Leeds and others I can't remember in car crime/theft incidences.
The thought or my imminent renewal has been on my mind of late, so I have paid attention to Threads where this is mentioned.
Naming no names, members on here in their early 20s with J-spec TTs are paying what I have been quoted, some even less with 6 points on their licence. I have none.
Surely this is a mistake? To boot, I was not happy paying last years premium, but done so more in naivety than anything. Having been a member on here for almost a year, I conclude that LAST years premium seems, retrospectively, excessive.
Prior to owning a Supra, I owned several Porsches, the last being a 944 S2 Turbo, with the same criteria EXACTLY as the Supra, yet the most I ever paid was £354.
I look forward to your reply, and should this quote be correct, its justification to a 48 year old, never claimed, occasional user.

Hi,

I have looked in this for you as I said in my PM.

Unfortunately, due to your postcode we were unable to place you with the underwriter we use for our car club scheme as your postcode is excluded. We found another standard insurance company to place you with but unfortunately we have no say so over their rates.

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do for you on this case.

Try Bell mate, been with them years and just renewed my UK TT for £250 comp with protected no claims with alloys and exhaust declared :)
TBH Bell seem to come up trumps year after year unlike some companies that quote cheap to start and then double in the second year.
I did consider paying extra at one stage to go with Sky because of the agreed value thing but now it seems that this isn't an option?

Thought I'd post that I'm back with Sky again this year, my lowest price yet... although when I got the cover note and forms to sign and post back there were some minor inaccuracies on the form that I've corrected.

The form also said 8 years no claims... which is correct (7 years when leaving Sky last year) but my insurer for the past year maxed out at 5 years which is all that it states on my renewal letter.

I'm hoping these things don't mean I'm going to end up paying more... but I haven't heard anything (still waiting on the full certificate).

I got a really good price from you last week when I was buying my supra, I switched over the insurance from my prelude to the supra and it worked out at £58 more per year, which I was very impressed with considering the power difference etc.

I think the price was somewhere around £580, and I'm 25 with 7 (or 8) years NCB and no points. This is on a JDM GZ TT aerotop.

I was rather disappointed with the quotation I received today. £601 for an NA 5spd worth £1k. I have 14 years no claims, no points/convictions ever and only do 1000 miles a year. It's not far off what I was paying for a 430bhp TT 6spd with Guaranteed value for £12k, in fact it's not even that far off what I paid for a T67 single worth £14k! Why so much? I'm at the same address as before

Also you can't add this to my current policy so need to take out a brand new one - can't you do 2 car policies or is this a restriction on the one I have?

Can one of you take a look and let me know if there's anything you can do? Otherwise I'm going to have to stop the current policy and get a fresh one to cover both cars :( Darn insurance, why is it always so difficult (moan, grumble, etc!)

Hi Ollie, thanks for checking.

It's a GZ aero shell with an NA engine and 5spd fitted (long story!). TPFT is okay provided my no claims is guaranteed. It's also a cat D (don't think it makes a difference, but best to check)

Just a quick note on the point above.. no mkiv Supra club member should be seeing a raise on their renewal price unless you have picked up points / had a claim in the last 12 months. We have negotiated a freeze on increase in renewal prices as your Supras are performing well.

Ollie

So why did mine go up £500?
To be fair I rang Sky last Friday, and they got it down to £820 with a £350 excess, but this is still an increase of nearly £100. If you can match last years price we can do business as I am happy with the service. The car is uninsured at the mo, but I need to drive it tomorrow as my Shogun is being serviced.
If you CAN match last years premium, ring mo on 07525 662625 before 11am (Friday). I shall assume the lack of a call is a negative. Thank you. P McCool

I was told it was due to inflation and nothing could be done. Ended up paying more than last year. :(

More legwork needed I think, dude ;)

My quote from Sky for my renewal back in December was £100 more than I paid the year before. By the time I'd finished playing insurance companies off each other, I paid £150 less than the year before :d

Lol don't get me wrong I did just that. Rang round got different quotes that were cheaper but the best I got was a deal matching one of those quotes but still being more than last year.
I hate insurance time!

Thats strange my renewal came in £100 more. I have had 1 claim, however i have protected no claims bonus and surley thats the point of protection ?

Protected No claims Bonus = You pay an up front charge on top of your insurance and if you dont claim, the insurance company wins. If you do claim, you win. Isnt that correct ?

If so not sure why mine has risen if no supra premiums should be rising this year ?

Put in some ground work, find the best price you can and then talk to Sky.

No insurance company will ever give their best price on a renewal.

The world isnt always served to you on a plate, sometimes you need to work at things.

I have just had to renew mine and I was with SKY. They messed me about last year and said they would take that into account this year but never did. They were given the oportunity to better the quote this year but never got back to me.
So I decided to look around and found loads of quotes better than theirs, even on the general search engines. Got even better deals when I bothered to phone some up. In the end I settled for a quote substantially lower and am going with them. SKY, Club insurers!!!, not sure about that.

So far ive had loads of quotes better than SKY one was £200 less BUT. Not like for like, however ive had one quote like for like thats plenty lower from Adrian Flux so will phone and see if they will beat it.

I am very dissapionted however that SKY have not responded to the many posts on here saying their premiums have gone up. Why is there no response to these posts. SKY appear to have promised in previous posts that premiums will not rise, yet many appear to have met SKYs criteria and premiums still risen.

Hi, I can only see 1/2 people who have had a rise in premium since posting about the price freeze. There may be reasons behind the increase in renewal and I have PM'd the customers for their details so I can look into their renewals...

With regards to not responding fast enough.. I was at JAE this weekend with the rest of the Sky team, I had a very busy day yesterday catching up after 3 days away from the computer.

Hi,

apologies for this. If anyone else has similar problems please PM me and I'll get on them straight away.

The nature of insurance is that we cannot please everyone/beat every price out there, hopefully some of you can understand that :)

maybe a second club insurer would be a good idea, may create some healthy competition, and maybe able to insure the younger memebers of the club

If you find an acceptable policy, which is cheaper than Sky (and they can't match it) feel free to go with that company ;)
