hi

i am new to the forum, and i am looking at getting a n/a as a daily driver.

my question is.... does anyone know if the boot on the mkiv supra is big enough to fit a drum kit in?

strange question maybe but i play drums in a band and don't want to have two cars to run.

back seats can obviously be used for smaller drums etc.

any feedback would be much appriciated

Lewis, welcome to the forum.

This post should really be in General Chat. This is where we discuss Technical issues. :)

To help with your question, the MKIV does have rear seats that fold down for larger loads. Although this helps a little sometimes, you'll find that you may be hampered by the rear hatch, which is at such an acute angle that bulky items with height have to move forward anyway. Seats up OR down, you only have about 60cm depth in the boot. I don't know how small a full drumkit packs down to, but I doubt you'll have enough room in there.

Hope this helps.

Hi, what kit have you got, how many toms, are they skinned on both sides and how deep is your bass drum? Do you need to carry a monitor too?

I play a Yamaha DTXpress IV electric kit, so I can just fold it flat and it all fits in the boot including a Laney wedge monitor.

Unless you've got a monster bass drum, then that should fit in the front seat you don't stand a chance of getting it anywhere near the back. If your toms are single-skinned, then you could stack them inside each other to make life easier although I'm not sure whether you could actually get a floor tom onto the back seat.

You need to have a good look around one with a tape measure, but TBH, even if you could fit all your hardware in there, it's be a bitch to do and the last thing you want after a gig is to spend ages fighting to get your kit stowed away.

Unfortunately that's the price you have to pay for being a drummer - you need a big car or van to lug your gear around in.

Do any of your bandmates have a big car you could use?
