hoff
Driving home from work last night and all was well. I had done abot 10 miles with 2 to go when the car started to get dead hot. The temp gauge was normal so I took the heating right down as I had it on max. The heat did drop a little and the temp gauge remained normal. So i get home, get out and all of a sudden there was a huge hissing and steam apeared from the engine bay. Got a shitty little tourch out so that was no help. My girlfriends brother will nurse it down to his workshop tonight and we'll have a look. Hopefully it'll will be something relatively simple like the water pump, but as yet I have no idea. I thought NA's were reliable;)

Havard
Sounds like the water pump or the thermostat!! Then again I know nothing about Supra's so it could be anything.....LOL!! H.
hoff
Same here H. It sounds like one of them as the steam looked to be coming from that side of the engine bay. Mike is on the case tonight Jamie. He was going to be doing the starter motor, 1st seal on the autobox and the spats this week anyway. Lol. So if we find out what the problem is later hopefully I can have the part ordered tomorrow if its nothing to serious. Fingers crossed. _Lynz_
I know less than H but I hope it's nothing major or expensive for you... it's as if they know it's the most expensive time of the year!!

hoff
That was one of the mentioned possiblities. How easy are they to come by, how much are they and how easy to replace are they? I know nothing about them. My mechanic (brother in law) does (should) but just for my own piece of mind if someone can let me know. Cheers:)
hoff
Well had a look last night. Couldn't find the leak anywhere and there was no pressure in the hoses. Could a thermastat have caused this? We are going to have a propper look again tonight and my mechanic will try a few things to discover what the problem is.
