Traction Control yet again

Sorry for yet another Traction Control post but I am a little baffled and I can't find a relevant post for what I want to know.

Yesterday on my way home I obviously put my foot down a little heavy and I fishtailed along the road, after that the car suddenly appeared slow and sluggish and I couldn't figure out why.

This morning the same thing happened as it's a little wet again. Pulled out of a junction bit much throttle and a little slip slidy at the back. This time though I noticed that the green "slip control" light had appeared on my dashboard and again the car was sluggish as sh** and no matter how much I tried to put my foot down after, there was no power there and I couldn't get above 40 miles an hour.

Now I assume the slip control coming on cuts power which is what it's designed to do but how do I turn it off other then stop the car and turn it off. As pressing the TC button doesn't seem to do anything!!

Advise is appreciated.
