With my supra currently being in the shop having a transmission change... its allowed me to reflect on what i don't like about the car... mainly the single turbo lag. i'm not sure what turbo is on it at the moment as its a bit hidden with some metal plate. anyway the lag is so bad it doesn't kick in till around the 4500-5000rpm mark and makes 1st gear about a 10th of a sec of boost before the rev limiter hits... making it not that much fun in daily driving except in higher gears. any suggestions for another turbo which might be better for me. ps- cars running approx 400bhp-maybe more, i haven't had time to dyno it yet- just what the seller i bought it off said. any ideas?

What turbo do you currently have?

i'm not sure- i had the car 3 weeks before it went in to the shop and i never got round to looking at it properly- bit of surface rust and a thin metal plate was covering the (i presume) serial number etc.

What's the full spec of the car? Is it TT converted to single or NA-T?

Can you post pics of the turbo without the cover so we can roughly identify the size.

Without more information it is very difficult to give you proper advice.

If you are getting that much lag on an NA-T, then I suspect the turbo is far to big. For an NA-T I'd go T60, T61 or GT35R

You need to take off the shroud and have a look at that turbo. Its only going to be a couple of bolts holding it on there. There then ought to be a plate rivetted on the side of it somewhere in the middle. That should tell you what the turbo itself is. One of the biggest effects is the A/R ratio of the compressor and exhaust housing. The exhaust housing if its say 1.15 a/r will be the reason you are having problems. You may find that all you need is a replacement exhaust housing, maybe a 0.58 housing they only cost around £150 I think.

I remember being in Michel's T78 many years ago.

nothing, nothing, nothing then at 4.5k; brown pants. It was on or off, but to be fair it was very quick!

I was having a look at your old threads and most about your car end with people asking for pics... the threads die because you don't supply any pics or specs of the car.

You really need to get a camera, take some pis of the engine bay and post them on here. It's near impossible to help without more information.
