Got home early from work so decided to go out for a spin only to find something up with the paintwork when i got to the car. Its as if its just had a poor respray.

I think i can rule out any foul play as there are no marks or residue just a bit of the usual dust. Paintwork wasnt brilliant when i got the car but not too bad. Why all of a sudden has it gone like this? I got the car when it was feezing cold back in febuary so i would have thought it would of done it then.

The car is washed every weekend and has a good few coats of meguires shampoo/polish wax etc.

What has happened?

Feel like i want to get rid of it now :(

Are the "bumps" visible or can you just feel them when you touch the paintwork?

Are they in one location or all over the car?

I've seen this on spoilers and other non-metallic parts where the paint "bubbles" in clusters, something to do with the type of paint used I think.

How bad is it?

If it's the paint itself doing this then you'll need to repray areas to resolve it, if it's *on* the paint that should be easier to shift.

Just get it re-sprayed mate

If i only had the money. That was going to be the last thing i was going to do to it.

is it the actual pain or just contamination? try some claybar

Its the paint for sure. Its only done it on the rear quarters and top of the doors (area's that are curvy).

Its pretty terminal.

Its on the rear quarters and top of the doors (curvy bits) Bonnet, roof, front wings, spolier are all ok

Its like i have just sprayed it and its reacted. But thing i cant work out is why has it just done it? Its been fine from day one of me owning it.

Will find my camera and take some pics

This is true - my top fin on my VS spoiler looked like it has goose bumps.

It had a crap paint job and if you ran your hands on it you could feel the horrid little lumps.

The main spoiler also has 'some' of this - so im getting it profesionaly resprayed :Pling:

That is moisture under the paintwork Edge. My rear wing had some of that before it had a proper re-spray on that panel. It had been done before as there was a bit of overspray on the inside of the door!

I was brave enough to push one of the dimples in and water squirted out......:( It was like my car had zits.....

It seems like the cold weather brings them out!!

I would possibly leave it until next year now mate, Unless you can find a really well heated body shop!!

I second that. Try and put it out of your mind until the early spring (the weather's going to be sh!te for the next 4-5 months and there won't be many shows/meets where you need it to look immaculate).

I'm no expert but that looks like it'll pretty much need a full job re-doing if you want it to look mint. If it were me I'd re-spray it myself next summer (or get it done professionally).

Yeah that looks like its going to be the plan. I know a few good guys in a trusted body shop. Ill probably take the tax off and let it stand for 6 months or so. But i will get them to look at it as they are quite tallented guys and maybe able to blend some of it so i can sell.

Its got to be something under the paint, ie moisture or rust, if you have had the car a year, if it was paint related it would have shown up long before.

Got it late jan early feb this year. As i said before the respray looks as it was rushed

maybe when it was primed it was left in the garage or outside, abosrbing moisture?? then took it into the booth with a quick de grease??? then layed the paint on? i bet its to do with the primer, water in the primer, when the cold freezes it, bumpes will rise under the silver coat?

Only cellulose primer is porous or 2K that has been put on without activator will be very slightly porous, and it will only absorb if its been left in the Werther for some time, like months, otherwise all the spray jobs that are done properly by spray shops would be rusting as they will wet flat ;)

If it has been fine throughout the summer i would suspect its been taken back to bare metal and not etch primed, or not been primed at all.
