Hi all, I just recently bought a Supra and love it to bits until I tried to install my sounds from my old car last night and ran into just a few issues, so without further adieu I'll lay out some of the problems I came across and see if any of you chaps can help a noob in need :)
Firstly mine is a '93 RZ that features a silver Fujitsu amp under the passenger seat. This caused most of the issues as I'm wanting to wire up a head unit up to operate with the radio. I've since taken the amp out, I've got my own one I want to install and trying to figure out which coloured cable does what just about did me head in! So basically what I'm doing is installing a Pioneer Headunit, a sony 4/3 50w amp for 2 DLS 6.5" components, a sony 200w amp for the subwoofer. Does anyone know how to get around the stock amp issue? Any help would be much appreciated! :d

Yes. It's a piece of piss and has been covered a multitude of times. You'll be amazed at the sound difference when you bypass the amp as well.

Here's what you need to do:

Go to Halfords and buy the AutoLeads ISO harness adapter (radio adapter) for Toyota cars.
This will automatically bypass the amp.

There are pictures on here of where you need to plug it in, posted by Michael I think.

thanks for the help guys, I'm in NZ so I'll have to look around a shop for it, is there no way of just hardwiring rather than using an adaptor?

Yeah, you can hard wire it and to be honest I'd recommend it since space behind the dash is a premium (especially if you have lots of electronic gauges and controllers fitted). The speaker wires are not industry standard colours, but they're easy enough to figure out. And as Carlos has mentioned, ditch the amp it's hopeless! It's also a good chance to remove about 1kg of the stock wiring.

But you're gonna have to run power cables to your amps, so why not run some fresh speaker cable from your amps to the speakers and just disconnect the factory speaker cables & tape them out of the way, use an ISO adapter and run RCAs from your head unit to the amps. You can tape the new speaker wires to a straightened-out wire coat hanger to help you push them through the door grommets.

It means that if you crash the car or sell it, you can just unplug your amps and reconnect all the stock wiring in like five minutes.
