Hi all,

Newbie boy here  . I read alot about replacement speakers in the threads below ... so I think I know what to go for there :conf: .

I am also after a different headunit too (I currently have a shoddy CD/Tape double DIN affair from Japan with no radio band expander!). I used to have a Pioneer P90DAB in my old car with Pioneer Sub & Amp (a friend works for Pioneer  ) and Infinity Kappa speakers. I quite fancy the idea of something with a screen though (plenty of space for it I guess?) ... My only requirement is that it can play MP3's (although I suppose I could do without it .... maybe!).

Anyone got any sugesstions for what is out there in the way of headunits with screens for reasonably sensible money, as full volume at the moment is a kind of inaudible, tinney mess :p :conf:

Cheers, J :looney:

Well I guess that depends on what you mean by "sensible money" !!

Heh heh!! Anything under £5 really :innocent:

Hmmm - no, I guess none of them will be 'sensible' money .. just wanting to see what everyone else uses really :)

Cool .... yeah, it sounds like everyone rates the Alpine. I've seen some nice Pioneer stuff too though (A friend of mine works there so I can get it a bit cheap  ).

Another really dumb question though! I just went out to the car, and popped the rear speaker grills off easily enough. I found Carrozerria (sp?) composite speakers under there! But I can't figure out how to get the front speaker covers off? I don't want to pull too hard incase I break/snap something important. From what I could see though, it looks like the fronts are some sort of Alpine speakers? I am assuming that neither of these are standard?

Cheers for the advice :)

you need to take the whole door card off to get to the front speakers.

I've got the Pioneer AVHP6400, 6.5" widescreen head unit.... very pleased with it. Retail is £799, but you should pick it up for a £100 or so less.

Good bit of kit for the control of all the other pieces of kit in a pioneer system (the dab module, satnav system, tv tuner, games consoles, pioneer multi changers etc.)... nice selection of audio controls and inputs and outputs too.
