Roof dent removal :(

Hi Guys

Well had a spot of bad luck on the way back from the dyno on thursday night when my bonnet decided to pop open at around 45mph.

The carbon bonnet has cracked in one or two places which im not bothered about as easy fix but the worse part is that the bonnet has dented the roof between the strengthening bars :(

Now the paint is fine and doesn't look likes its creased the metal but wondering what the best route of action is from here.

Does anyone know if the metal can be accessed from removing the roof lining to pop it out?

Or anyone local to Oxford who is Good with removing dents?

The car was pretty much mint to this happened so want to get it back to normal :(

Im gunna try the old heat gun and air duster trick tonight so will see what happens.

Thanks for your time

Ryan

p.s needless to say i have ordered some aerocatches now

we also use vacum cups here on cheap surfing roofracks, a bigger tom tom sucker type of thing. This will allow you to suck onto the outside and you should be able to pull it out. I have done it on plenty of hirecars, but honstly sometmes it leaves a mark where it bent..

Gutted Ryan, fancy not having bonnet pins or the like with carbon bonnet.

I was once following my brothers prelude in the supra when his flew completedly off, i had to slam on and it just smashed onto the floor right in frotnt of my car. Was like something outof a movie in slow motion. I soiled myself :)

ryan, what did i tell you when you showed my your engine....

i asked, is that the only locking mechanism you have?

I really did not want to fit some bonnet pins as think they look crap and ruin the smooth lines of a supra but guess with carbon bonnet not being totally rigid like Stock bonnets it just lifted when maybe one of the 2 toyota locking catch came loose. Oh well these things happen.

Have ordered some Aerocatches now as they look respectable being flat. Will get them sprayed up with bonnet.

I had the same thing happen with a CF bonnet, hence the reason I went back to stock..scary isn't it *grin*...

I know of an excellent dent removal place in Basingstoke, they managed to repair a mates scooby which had a concrete lump thrown against it. Happy to provide details if required.
