Tiptronics - do they have overdrive ?

Something I've always wanted to ask.

I'm Tiptonic, and I have what feels like 5 gears...

Say I'm on level ground doing a steady 40 mph in manual third, at which speed its at 2100 rpm. If I change up to drive (lets call it fourth) still at a steady 40 mph, the revs fall to 1750. Then, if still at 40 mph and drive I back off the throttle a wee touch, then back on, the revs drop to 1500 rpm and will sit there happily until I change gear again. If I change back down to third, revs go back to 2100 rpm. I can repeat this at any time on level ground and its always been like this since I bought her four years ago.

Is this normal ?
