How easy is it to do the 2nd decat yourself using this?

I am right thinking its the 2nd one aren't I? The one closest the engine.:) And what kind of performance increase do you think I'll see if I did do it?

Ta.

Doh, realised I'd put in the wrong link after looking at it again!!

Right fost decat then, kinda makes sense when you think bout it doesnt it:rolleyes:, doncha just love how dopey a mix of heineken and red wine makes you!!!

Just a case of unbolting the cat and bolting the pipe in then?

Any thoughts on the power gain I could expect?

well firstly what engine is it? n/a or tt? n/a decat will make it loud and give better throttle response. thats about it. and taking it out on an n/a is also a fooking nightmare took me 3 hours to get mine out and required me laying under the car with 2 foot extension on a breaker bar whilst the nuts were heated red hot from ontop with a blow lamp

It'll probably give about 30 extra BHP and raise boost to around 0.9bar. You shouldn't need an FCD with just the first cat gone, but every car is different...

If you don't have one already, make sure you have a boost gauge fitted to keep an eye on levels.

It can be done DIY but the studs on the turbo side have a tendancy to snap. Personally I'd just take it to your local exhaust place and give them £20 to fit it. They'll have all the tools available to replace a stud if it snaps.

I'd also recommend changing the fuel pump, just in case the existing one is a bit tired. Also make sure the fuel filter has been replaced in the last couple of years.

I'd recommend any of the main brand electronic boost gauges. They tend to have things like peak hold which is very useful. If you have the money then the DEFI is possibly the nicest looking of the lot.

They're easy to fit, the only hard part is getting the wires through from the engine bay to the passenger compartment. Any half competent garage will be able to fit one, though it might be a good chance for you to learn a bit of DIY ;)
