what kinda corsa did you have? i have a 1.8 corsa c atm. most of the cars i find seem to be autos. i really love the feel of manuals the extra control. the other hard thing is finding a stock car - everyone loves modding but i dont stand a chance of getting insured on a modified car

Still got the Corsa as my daily drive, it's a 1.4 R reg shed. It goes, which is all I need it for really! (*touches wood that it's not about to break*). It also means I haven't got the modding bug yet, as I only drive her occasionally and I still smile insanely behind the wheel.

Test drive both a manual and an auto - I wanted a manual when I started looking, but I don't regret buying an auto at all. They're great boxes despite what people not in the know think and say. What's your budget? A guy at my work has just ordered a mechanically stock TT from Japan for less than £9k through Jurgen who's a trader on here (JM Imports).

my budget is gonna be up to around 10k but ideally 8k. my only issue is im 20 so getting insured on anything modified or imported isnt gonna happen. has to be a uk model

And be prepared to travel too - my mate went from Southampton to Manchester to view an Ovlov T5 he found on Fleabay. He did end up driving it home, but he might have been lucky!

If you have any difficulty getting test drives (I know I did due to being under 25), try and get along to a meet and ask if anyone'll take you for a spin in their car, so you can get a feel for the manual/autobox, NA/TT, maybe even a single (but then you'll never be satisfied with a stock TT :) )

They've been known to go for less than 10k, but you gotta be in the right place at the right time, and they're probably not in the best condition (my UK was

Ah but yours wasn't a manual. The chances of finding a decent UK manual for that money is slim. :(

Very true. I still think I paid under market value for my car though - one of the reasons I couldn't let the opportunity pass :) I was originally aiming to get a Supra around about now, not 12 months ago! Not that I'm complaining :D

Your in the same boat as me buddy! 20 and impossible to get insured on any imports! Which i seem to find on the usual sites except the autos, although im starting to believe auto might not be such a bad idea!

I spoke with sky and only next year would they possibly be able to do anything due being under their age requirements for the car etc. They're aiming to bring in some new things for younger drivers next year so we shall see....

thats exactly what they said to me - my best quote has been from elephant and its quite reasonable, not cheap but affordable

as for the prices of manuals there is one on here - blueish color 90ish k miles 6 speed manual standard - which is pretty much exactly what i want - (lower mileage would be good but 10k a year is quite normal) - and thats on a 9550. i just need to look into turbo lifespan issues before i buy one.

i know i might get a bit slated but i really don't want an auto. im a real car guy and love driving more that just about anything and the tactile feeling of changing gear is all part of my enjoyment. also im not in a huge rush so waiting for the right car isnt a problem

Know how you feel bud! Best quote i got was around 2k i believe, yet an auto was £100 more?

Personally i would have thought it less of a risk? Im sure the right car will turn up just a case of waiting as many previous to us have! Good luck with the search though buddy ;)
