Guest partyboy1101
I'm considering the purchase of a trackday car. Obviously I am aware of the tuning potential of Supras and I much prefer them to Scoobys and Evos. Is anyone running one purely as a track car? How to they fare? Do they handle well on the track or am I better off looking for something a bit lighter? Conversely, if I dump all of the non-essentials like interior, leccy windows, air con, etc can the weight be brought down to a reasonable level? Any thoughts gratefully received. Mike B
good fun on bigger tracks. expensive on tyres and 2nd gear corners hold up the traffic! I would probably buy something lighter that uses small tyres
colsoop
I will be doing exactly this next season. Without too much effort you can get the weight down to around 1350 kg's acording to my calcs. Lots of non essential parts can be binned so if you are looking for one as a pure track car you can really gut it without too many problems at all. Suspension overhaul would be a good idea if the car you buy has done a fair few miles.
grahamc
if you want a track only car, get track car, the caterhams, radicals, etc... you are looking at 500 - 700kgs, with extreme handling, etc. You cannot get a supra down to those sorts of weights. Personally, I would go for a radical as an track only car... they look awesome!!

bignum
Supras are great fun on the track and very rewarding when you get it right, as for an out and out track car theyre just to heavy making it an expensive game, tyres, brakes, suspension, fuel all suffer.
