View Full Version : Windmill Tavern?
Hey guys, I went out for a meal the other week at the Windmill Tavern and it was great. Good food and good service. We went on a Sunday and it was carvery, but if that was anything to go by, the rest of the food should be pretty good.
They have got quite a large car park, big enough to cater for us and I thought it might be a good place to go out to sometime. They had a seperate lounge area for after eating, although not sure how big this was as we never went into that area.
Some info on the place:
This picturesque pub is attached to the six-storey Grade II-listed Clifton windmill at Salwick which dates back to the late eighteenth century. Newly refurbished, the Windmill Tavern reopened in May 2007 and Head Chef Darren Oates (ex-Angel at Hetton) has produced a menu focused on traditional fare sourced from local suppliers. As well as the a la carte choice, there are chalkboarded seasonal specialities, deli boards and a traditional Sunday carvery. The Windmill has an extensive wine list and a good choice of cask ales and speciality beers. There is also a new landscaped beer garden.

Its quite straight forward to find, it's off Preston New Road, if you travel down the road heading in the Preston Direction, you will pass Salvatores on your right, and its the next turn off on your left. Go down there and it's on your right. It was quite a nice place and out of the way from chavs so no need to worry about your cars lol

So guys what day would suit you guys best? I think the carvery is only available on a Sunday, but if my last visit is anything to go by, the place is packed on a sunday! When does everyone fancy?
We can do most days really, we're going to the Yorkshire meet on Sunday and then I think the pancakes is due the Saturday after, but other than that "I'm free" :)
Me and H can't do 9th, 10th or 24th of November but are pretty clear other than that.

Hey guys, does everyone want to try and go on a Sunday so we can make use of the carvery or is everyone more likely to be availabe on another day? Im not bothered either way. If you were thinking of a Sunday how does December 2nd sound? Gives people time to arrange stuff and time to book a tabe as Sunday is apparently one of there their busiest days! I can make any day so its whats best for you guys. Im a bit stuck for the next few weekends coming up but after that im free any time.

I have started a poll so I can get an idea of what date is best for everyone. You can select more than one date so if you’re free on all the days above tick them all! :) Once I have a definite date ill get an idea of numbers and call and book a table or tables LOL
Also just so you know, I think the carvery is only on a Sunday! If anyone can’t make the above dates feel free to suggest an alternative! I’m flexible

Hi and welcome, i think this is a Supra Owners meeting but anybody can come and are welcome , Just turn up and say Hi :) we have a few meetings coming up Like the "Xmas do" etc just keep an eye on the N/west section......Its a bit quiet this time of the year ( ie Winter ) but in Spring/summer there is plenty going on

I have booked it for 12 people in case their is a few others thinking about coming. If it ends up that their are more than 12 that wants to come, then let me know before Sunday as they need to arrange the tables differently.

Thought for one moment it was going to be a nice romantic 4some with Animal and his Misses and us 2, sharing the table for 12 haha! Not to worry, I think everyone turned up in the end and I got to meet some of you, sorry for those I didnt really get chance to speak to! No probs, it was quite funny really as the 4 of us had no idea who each other was, and it was kind of an excuse me, "hi, you with the mkivsupra club lol!" As we met inside rather than being stood near the car. To be fair, I think Lucy came out to use her phone just at the right time and spotted us! Then it was the 4 of us sat on a big table for 30mins, in the end the manager came and said they needed to split the tables lol, so we got food and then you all came, quite funny really as we said that would happen soon as we got up for food! I felt sorry for animal and Lucy who got there 30mins early lol and was sat on the table on there own! By the way, Please tell me you mean a week on thursday for the xmas do! As in the Thurs 20th - otherwise I have got my days mixed up and booked a room for the wrong evening! :blink:

Apologies for the lateness :) still I’m glad we made it as the location and food was excellent. It was nice to see everyone & I look forward to catching up properly at the Christmas do..

Mum had a burst stomach ulcer and was touch and go at one point...she's a bit better now though thanks.

There's a premier travel lodge about 5 mins away, look for one in Standish. We will drive past there to get to the Owl's so we could pick you up and give you a lift back.:)
