Banzai Track Day

Dear Track Day Driver,

We have teamed up with Banzai Magazine to organise a day of track action dedicated to Japanese vehicles at our Snetterton circuit. From Skyline to Starlet, Yaris to Evo, all Japanese vehicles are welcome on this event.

The comprehensive driver briefing with our chief instructor prior to track activity will explain how the day will work and highlight all of the safety rules and regulations. Drivers will then have 6 hours of open pit lane track time to explore their car’s potential on the fast Norfolk circuit.

Additional drivers and passengers are more than welcome on the day, and with the option of one-to-one in-car tuition from our highly experienced instructor, all drivers will be up to speed in no time at all.

In addition to the track activity, Banzai magazine will be in attendance with some special Japanese vehicles and goodies to hand out.

Noise regs.

Static Tests

All vehicles participating in track days at Snetterton must conform to the noise limit, on a static test, of 105 dB(A).

Noise checks to establish adherence to the relevant limit will be conducted in accordance with current measuring methods as defined by the MSA. Essentially this means that the noise test shall be measured from a position 0.5m behind the exhaust at a 45 degree angle, with the engine running at ¾ maximum revs.

In cases where the vehicle has two separated exhausts the measurement will be taken as above from the median point between the two.

If MSV is of the opinion that any vehicle does not comply with the applicable noise restrictions, the relevant vehicle will be prevented from participating in the remainder of the event unless and until the noise emissions are addressed to bring them within the applicable limit.

Drive-by Monitoring

Whilst MSV do not currently impose a drive-by limit at Snetterton, in the interests of ensuring that the spirit of the noise level limits is respected, MSV do monitor drive-by levels using noise meters located around the circuit.

If the results of the drive-by monitoring show that a particular vehicle is generating drive-by sound levels appreciably higher than vehicles with comparable static test results, then MSV staff will notify the participant, and the relevant vehicle shall not be permitted to take further part in the event until the participant has addressed the noise levels generated by their vehicle to bring them within acceptable sound levels.

Further participation in the track day may be precluded if acceptable drive-by limits cannot be achieved at the first drive-by test following the addition of extra silencing.

No race engines may be run before 0830hrs or after 1830hrs

105 dB for a static test is quite high tolerance, especially when compared to Bedford! I'm pretty sure Paul Whiffin has taken his single around here?

Yea, ive been round that track on very loud bikes a good few times and never had a problem with noise regs.

Yep, I went there a few years back, my favourite track! I got black flagged about 5 in the afternoon for being to loud and to lairy! Which was ok as I'd finished for the day anyway! Great track. Will be sticking my name down for this one.
