View Full Version : Bournemouth Meet

Steve W2

Hello everybody.

Thought I would post this thread to try and drum up some interest for a mini meet in the Bournemouth area. A couple of guys have already said they are up for it so I thought I would see how many othrers we can get along.

General consensus suggests that it should be on a Sunday and given that the bad weather is closing in I thought the sooner the better.

I will suggest a date of 26th October and let you decide whether you can make it or not.

Obviously, anyone is welcome and it would be good to get a decent turnout, it doesn't clash with any other meets as far as I can see so get posting!

We have already got about 8-10 people displaying serious interest.:)

Steve W2
07-10-03, 15:10
There is a section on the BBS that tells you what you need to do. Anyway to become a fully fledged member you need to pay a £10 annual subscription fee.

You will have to send this branners by way of cheque or you can pay by Nochex if you know WTF that is:)

Either way you gotta pay to play;)

Have a read of this thread here (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8531) about the paid membership.

Give you instructions on various ways to pay.

WSB2 - I think your right, this might help.

The terms and conditions of this special offer are as follows:

Everyone coming along to the meet is required to pay me £20 for organising the event.

Beers will be free on the day!:)

No beer monsters!

I knew mentioning beer would get me into trouble:D

mawby
08-10-03, 10:50
What's that? As much free beer as we can drink! Sweet! :D

Whitesupraboy2
08-10-03, 11:08

Jive
08-10-03, 12:01
Don't worry about the beer side, if people are driving then it's usually a coke or 1 beer [make sure they've got Stella :innocent: ] as drinking and driving is bad kids :)

Timwildman
08-10-03, 16:48
I'll be there dont worry just been busy at work recently (for once)

Well for ease of meeting we could meet at the Angel in ferndown again, as Some of the guys from southampton know where it is. Then take a slow drive into town. just a sugestion.

Whitesupraboy2
08-10-03, 22:28
Good suggestion, i aint got clue where angel is even though i work in ferndown but sure i could find it. Drive into town sounds good, mainly coz town is slow and u TT's wont be leaving me and other NA's standing!

Steve W2
09-10-03, 08:21
Nice one Tim, that was opne of my thoughts for a meeting place. We could park up in B'mth and have a beer:)

Don't worry about directions I will do a map or something on PM for anyone who doesn't know where it is.

Suprachargedtt

10-10-03, 08:12
Wow, people have been busy last night. Mawby - I bow down to your organisational powers:)

I was gonna do a map hopefully today, but its sorted now, nice one!

Millhouse - Shame you can't make it, it would be a good meet if we could get 10+ Supe's down.

I'm trying to talk branners into it as well, I think he's considering it at the minute after his lovely hoiliday to B'mth:p

Excellent! At this rate we may get a better turnout than at POD. Okay, maybe not but it could still be a very respectable turnout, weather permitting.

Ouzolover - Looks like I'd better get saving:(

Right more pub sugestions....

In town there is a huge car park right in the town centre, it costs but would mean we could visit any of the pubs in town.

or theres a free car park (i think, now the tourist season has finished) down by the beach. with a not bad pub.

I'm trying to rack my brain for decent pubs with car parks, but well all of the pubs are in town... :(

Come on you local boys any suggestions, trouble is i always get a taxi when i go out, so never need to think about parking, and now i think about it my mind is blank. (not for the first time)

Well so far my other half has been on the Gumball and the Santa Pod meets and both times I've asked her afterwards if she enjoyed herself......got a yes from both so I'll be bringing her along to this as well.

The "park on the beach front" sounds cool, should get some great reactions from the wandering public :)

What do ya think ?

Then Sue can have Ouzolover all to herself.

Re: "Turning it into as wife swap" - good idea, I'd like a new Blitz Nur Spec R for mine - any takers ?????

Looking forward to the meet..

Just a thought re the "swap", as the Blitz would be noisy & expensive, would I really notice the change (soz Sue love) !

Steve, 12.00 sounds maybe a bit too early, people have to wash their cars and drive down there .... plus recover from the night before [BEER] :D

How about 1.00 - 1.30 at Ferndown?

Meeting places along the M27 - Rownhams Services [West Bound towards Bournemouth ;) ] or the Little Chef after Jnctn 1 M27, just after you go up the hill from the end of the M27 and it's on the left, easiest place for me to meet as it's only just down the road.

Any thoughts?

Steve W2
21-10-03, 11:35

Has anyone thought what we're going to do when we get to the angel (apart from have a drink).

Like are we going to drive into Bournemouth town centre. Go to some other pubs??

We could always head down to the beach at Boscombe pier, you've got to pay a bit but would be a good photo op. if the weather is good.

Or we could head down to sandbanks, rockley...... etc anyone got any ideas, opinions?

I would have said something earlier but for the computer playing up.

Oh I might be a little bit late, as my GF finishes work at 1pm. But i'll be at the bar.........
when I get there......
waitng for the free drinks,

:D LOL only jokin

25-10-03, 20:52
good point!! i guess where we go depends on weather, a nice blue sky like we have had would be brilliant get some good photo's ill grab dad's digital camera anyway. If it sunny for photos somewhere out in forest would be good, like near matchams must be a gravel car park around there that would be good for photo shoot! (i mean like in new forest u have those big car park areas that come out of no where!!) what u think,it just suggestion.

Did you get out there today? Sorry, I forgot all about today, so I wasn't there to meet you at the pub if you were about. I'm positive I've seen you turn into the side road 'round the corner from the pub before, I think I've posted a 'was it you?' thing about it.. I see a UK spec grey one, and I've seen another grey one both in my street recently.. There's a couple around here, no idea who any of them are :)

SimonB: Some nice pics there mate :)

Edit: I clearly didn't see the post directly above this one.. doh :)

Nope, that would be dangerous brain donut and nicksupra67 ;)

Right I've just got me pics uploaded here (http://www.mwhite.dsl.pipex.com/gallerybournemouth.htm) :)

I think it was dangerous brain who was talking about removing the dashboard and how difficult it was or didn't want to do it cos it looked difficult, well I've done a quick write up with pics here (http://www.mwhite.dsl.pipex.com/dashboard.htm) if you want to have a look, tis really a piece of cake :)

Steve W2, I'll try and get those pics and a write up of the dials replacements for you as soon as possible :)

Havin a mad day at work, great to see the pics though some really arty snaps.

Thought it was a great turnout with excelent weather (if a bit cold later).

Nice to see some more new faces and speak to some people that I used to live about 3 doors away from, and some that I see on the way to work in the mornings.

The convoy was cool it really turned some heads. Will look forward to the next meet now, maybe even sort my dash out by then and get my dials sorted out as I can't have Jive's car looking better than mine:D

Apologies for anyone that I didn't get to speak to and I will look forward to seeing those dial pics Jive. Nice one.:D

Mawby - Nice to see you again and hope your GF's trousers didn't stain:p

28-10-03, 13:18
Yeah I did see him 'L' reg. I thjought it might have been Mawby getting lost!

I only just saw it as it went past and didn't get a good look (playing with stereo):D

If it wasnt anyone on here then its a new black Supe in the area:blink:

Whitesupraboy2
28-10-03, 13:47
thats what i was thinking, someone new, must of been quite a site for him. Probably thinking was common around here!! :p

He didnt have the chrome 5 spoke alloys, which is what another black supra has around here. if we can get him and the red veilside and silver veilside on the BBS, then next time we have meet in B'mth or southampton, will be really good turn out

Jive
28-10-03, 17:50
We've got the same problem in Southampton, I've seen or know of at least 10 plus Supra's in and around Southampton which I know aren't on this forum! :(

We really do need those stickers and business cards to stick on cars to make them aware of this forum. Think there's gonna have to be a major recruitment drive during the winter months ready for a major spring/summer meet :)

It would be a good idea to get places like JIC, and the import place in southampton (can't remember the name), Jap village etc.. to give new owners a flyer of card with the club details. It's a bit hard though, if Branners doesn't want us to, as it's his baby.

Jive
28-10-03, 17:57
But what's the difference to you/me/anyone else sticking a note on someones window with this forum address on it?

At least if it was a decent card [official] then I don't see the problem.

proofs for stickers came to me for final approval today and should be with the sticker place in a couple of days, then they just make up the plates and off they go. So should have the stickers back within a week or so and will arrange for the business cards at the same time.

Yep sorry about the doughnut but I really couldn't let the wise ass in the astra gte leave more rubber than us lol.

Yes it was me asking about the dash removal. I'm gonna give it a shot and I have a mate of mine at work knocking me up carbon fibre replacements instead as I really cannot be assed to strip that vulcanised rubber crap off. If it goes well and is easy to make then I'll see if he will knock me up a few sets if anyones interested.
