I recently sent an item out to somebody on this forum using parcel2go.com who had DHL pick it up. The item was a roof spoiler. Id wrapped it pretty well with bubblewrap and went over it in cardboard before putting a very large bin bag over it and lots of tape. I even had 'handle with care' taped all over it. it arrived to the buyer snapped in half, which has happened in carriage because he called me literally 5 mins after the delivery to tell me.

I agreed to refund him the money and pursue a claim with parcel2go - all being well he has agreed and money has been paid back, and said he will be happy to help along with claims proceedings.

anyhow, I called them up and they said i need to print off a form from their site and post it in - within 14 days of dispatch. i did this around 3 days after dispach (1 day after delivery was taken) and received an email today..

"Thank you for your claim for damage. The status of your claim (id number ***** and order number *****) has changed. Your claim has been passed to you as we require satisfactory proof of value to consider the claim. You should note that you have until 16/10/2007 for Parcel2Go.com to receive this information. Information received after this date will result in the claim being rejected."

So they needed proof of value by the 16th, but i receive the email on 18th??

The item was second hand and with the p2g service i used it says all standard items are insured up to £100..

Now 2 things take the piss here because theyve basically emailed me 2 days late to ask for details, and then saying it wont be counted anyway after that date.

Tried calling them most of yesterday only to be fobbed off by their crap customer service. not really happy and wondering if anybody has some advice?

The item was only sold for £100 so that should be covered anyway right? otherwise how could i provide proof of the value anyway for a 2nd hand item?

Just BE CAREFUL when using them the b@stards, the picture sent looks like someone has literally stamped on it!

Mate, they dropped a top-end sub-woofer I sold on ebay 2nd hand and destroyed it completely - as I had no receipts or anything the claim was refused, leaving me £250 out of pocket. I'll never use them again.

They're proper @ssholes. i use them loads for stuff, sometimes when i dont complete a booking due to price they email asking whats wrong, and when i email them back explaining why i didnt use them, they dont try and help ever. im not going to use them again.

I used them a lot, but recently their standards dropped horrendously low. If you can find some kind of receipt for your claim, you may get lucky. When I filed my claim, DHL had a 3-month back-log of pending claims!

Thing is i bought the spoiler 2nd hand and sold it on as that so theres no receipt at all i can provide. only thing would be a bank statement and a link to the thread but im guessing thats no good, so i wont be holding my breath on anything being paid out.

I used parcel 2 go and I also had the item delivered at the other end damaged.

They wanted proof of purchase but then they said I'd sent it to them too late.

Rubbish.
