Laptop problem

I have done something to my laptop and the desktop icons now have a letter q and a number in brackets (eg. q (1)) instead of the icon name. Any ideas anyone? Thanks Gordon

sounds like you selected them all. somehow renamed them all Q! when you do that in XP all other icons will go (1) (2) etc etc.

Am trying to rename them back manually, but cant change the recycle bin and a couple of others back :(

what, how did u change it in the first place. as far as i know to change the name of the recycle bin you need to do a regedit!!! google it dude, theres plenty there to help.
