warped or heated spotted... I have had similar on a previous car when I was given mismatched pads and discs

pads were too hard for the discs and destroyed them, quickly

My mate ran ebc green pads with OEM discs... worked a TREAT, however it ate more discs than pads..

I do remember Class one taking me out in his car which had a set of CW pads, and with a combination of driver skill and good brake pads, he managed to scare with the pure stopping power available (Not 100% sure if he had/has braided lines)

mine has uk spec, oem discs (need replacing soon), cw pads, braided hoses and fluid... but I think the fluid could do with replacing and the system bled...

For the love of god don't use anything made by EBC.

If the cost of upgrading to UK spec brakes is too much then yes some decent pads (CW), braided lines, and decent fluid (Motul) will transform the J-spec brakes into something almost decent ;)

A master cylinder brace is also an option to help firm up pedal feel, see this thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=122715
