Is this a stupid idea or would it work.

Using an art air brush to spray large chips.

If you rub it down, airbrush on primer, rub it down, do that a few times, then paint. would an air brush produce a thin enough layer of paint to not blend it in with a compound polish at the end?

Or is this a stupid idea. Come on be brutal.

my other hobby involves 1/35 scale WW2 armour so i own 2, the problems would be you have to run quite thin paint through an airbrush which would take forever to build up a decent layer, they are for a decent one with a good spray pattern expensive (mine were £150 and £200) and take a fair bit of looking after, if you have no experience they are not easy to use, i would not even consider using one of mine for touch up you would get better results with a touch up paint pen or aerosols
