That's all you need, for anything else, just point and shout in English :)
(In all fairness, this is a free bump, as I'd like to know too :))
I learnt Spanish at school. Tried learning Italian recently using cds in the car and got the basics but all the verbs etc threw me and I bottled it. I regret that now of course. My point being the CDs are good, the silver ones with the funny old man on the box.

Personal teacher, a lot of listening, best would be to live with spanish speaking person. There is no faster way to learn language then living in enviorment, where everyone speaking it. I was lucky, when I moved to England, because for first 4 months I had contact only with english speaking people, I said not even 1 word in polish. First 2 weeks was like nightmare, I couldn't understand 80% of what was said to me (+ it is bloody Black Country!). After 2 weeks something is just "clicking" in your head and you start not only talk, but also THINK in ones language. I had some background of course, but it was just basic grammar rules and some dictionary from online games (MUD's) or other RGP games. I read a lot of books, watching movies with original language subtitles - helps a lot. Oh and spanish is one of easiest worlds languages (so people say).
Buy a ticket to Spain and dive in at the deep end.
As konio-nt says, living there is the best way. Also one on one teacher and lots of homework.

Exactly what I thought when I started reading your post!... I can't understand half of them and I'm only 45 miles away!...
A barman at our hotel in Gran Canaria taught us what to say when you call a barmaid over when you wanted to be served. The barmaids at the hotel always laughed and served us when we said it. It never seemed to work as well when were out somewhere else though.
Eventually a barmaid told us that what we were saying was "Hey senorita, I want to put my tongue in your rabbit"
