Hopefully the Stream download will be working... but I doubt it'll be very fast!
Ah bugger, just realised they've delayed it by one day... It's now the 10th Oct!

Do you have to get it as part of the orange box or can you buy it individually. i couldn't see the individual option in steam :(
I'm waiting to buy it, no way id pay for the orange box to get it as I already have half the games there.
I read on Gamespot that the standalone version (think it was called 'The black box') was cancelled.
I guess they've realised most that want the game will be prepared to pay the extra $15 for a 'full' package.
The last one was virtually uncrackable (Is that a word?) due to the online download aspects, so if you want to play, you have to pay.

I always pay for games, its just very annoying that i have the other games already. I don't like this episodic gaming idea it seems you get half a game each time for full game money :(
I hope they bring it out eventually in single format.
Cool! I installed Half life 1 last week and finished it last night, cos i was getting bored. I'll have a go at preloading on my steam account i think. :)

I got this free with my graphics card (though my graphics card did cost £240!).
Well after an impulse buy i have been playing the first couple of levels. So far so good and also no bugs / glitches as yet which is better than ep 1.
I will be trying portal later on followed by some TF2

I too was a bit miffed that I had to pay for HL2 and EP1 again, and then I remembered that HL2 is the only game where I'll forgive them for it and where's my wallet :D

I'm at 10%, thats taken 20 minutes. Good few hours yet then. :(

I played counterstrike years ago. In fact I was somewhat of an addict and that addiction actually stopped me from playing any computer games at all. Is this latest batch of the half life game just the same as the original half life that CS was spawned from or is there a newer spawning of CS?
Woah its freaky but I am now getting flashbacks of damn good CS kills when I put down some very high ranking CS players.

How do they still keep it so good after all this time? The set pieces, the plot, the characters, the action... It's all so good and more than makes up for the Bioshock disappointment :nana:

The HL2 series is the best, and has been the best since release, fps game of all time. Everything else just lacks that little something.
Ill get round to playing EP2 once I can put Medival II: Total war down :(

I don't play games much these days though and I've recently got Bioshock and Fable:Lost Chapters to play so it'll have to wait :)
Well thats portal finished it is quite short but i have to say i am impressed with it, the ending is hilarious :d

I don't play much these days either, but trust me, chuck bioshock and whatever turd that other thing is at the back of the drawer, stick all the HL2's on your machine and play god's own FPS. Do it now.

PS actually if you play through EP0, 1, and 2 of HL2 and then try Bioshock you'll cry so maybe get it out the way first :D

Totally agree with what Ian posted earlier, HL2 has everything and really sets the standard.
Ep2, completed, i have to say, very good but disappointed with the length of it only took 2 days (3hrs) i hope its not like another year and a half wait now for the final ep3
3 hours, mmmhmmm, yep, mmmm. That's plausible :rolleyes: Maybe 6 eh? 5 at a push? Why do people say stuff like that, someone said it about bioshock as well, some implausible completion time like they think they are gaming heroes or something :blink: I just don't get it.
Winds me up. I always take the time to enjoy the game and look around and pay attention to the plot and the small touches that make it so good, so I get the most out of it. Not stick it on easy, put a paperweight on the W key, and half-watch Big Brother on the telly.
Or maybe my computer runs the games slower than everyone else, maybe that's it.

It took me 3 hrs, 1.5 hrs both days and im saying it because its true? and i did look around and take heed to the plot.
I dont think i mentioned i was a "gaming hero" either
Think its Ians mechanical sympothy (for the keyboard) Mind you, took me about 3 weeks to finish HL2, mostly on the last bit on the tower :(
I only took maybe 4-5 hours to do it on hard. I think part of it is that in anticipation of episode 2 coming out I replayed both HL2 and episode 1 on hard over the last couple of days so I was on top form etc and knew the weapons, controls inside out. I think if you jumped straight into episode 2 having not payed the others for months and months it would take a little longer.

I got HL2:ET free with my graphics card (same with HL2:EO) and I think it is a great game, but ET seems a lot shorter than EO. Only took me a couple days to finish, and Im deffo no gaming god :)
I did find an easter egg though - a garden gnome!

LOL: No - I managed to buy it eventually but I don't know how - I couldn't even find a country setting in the control panel. According to the Help regarding my error message Halflife 2: Episode Two isn't one of the titles that are region limited :blink: I guess they were just having problems with their web store at the time :shrug:

Only just got round to actually playing (and completing!!) this. Throughout the passage ways, forests and buildings etc, I found myself mostly zooming onto one particular thing.......
