I'm installing an Apex'i S-AFC2. It has a connection for factory knock sensors, and suggests that if the engine has more than 1 knock sensor, use the most active one...

The Supra has two... Any suggestions? - I know I could just try both, but I'm hoping someone has already been down this road.

TIA

When I put mine in . . . I guessed

Most meltdowns seem to be on 5 or 6, so it would seem logical to pick the rearmost one, but I couldn't be arsed to trace the wires all the way back. I couldn't be arsed to wire it up to both in turn and then make a decision either! :p

I figure it's more of a gimmick than a useful tuning tool anyway, although I haven't had chance to play with it. Theres a line in the instructions that says something like "Be careful: sometimes the knock count will decrease as the engine is knocking more and more". That kinda put me off relying on it too much!

Thanks for your PM yesterday btw, will apply your solution at the weekend

Yeah, I saw that line too. :innocent:

Every little bit of safety helps though... I might just put a bullet terminal on both and swap them around. Just a pain to keep changing things.
I s'pose I could always put both on a switch and flick between the two. - Another switch!

Good luck with the Mundaneo, you know where I am if you need me :)

Forget it, for reasons too complex to go into here the stock knock sensors are NOT a good thing to rely on on modded engines. Even the factory ecu ignores them for a lot of the map. they work, but only just...
