Meets. Group buys and events all have one thing in common. Lists of names of people attending or wishing to join.
I've always thought that adding your name to a list in a new post was a bit of an odd idea. It quite often results in long threads with big lists (see the japshow thread) and you have to scroll through pages and pages of names to see any important information.
People sometimes post a reply at the same time and someones name gets missed if nobody notices.

Can we have an option somewhere when creating a thread to include a list that would appear at the top of a thread where you can press some buttons to add and remove yourself?
I know we have the calendar but often people don't use it and sign up in the thread instead. (maybe they could be linked somehow for meets?)
You could allow the creator to set what you can add yourself for (for example the door sills/rad cover GB) and display it after the name?
For example
1. Bob (Sills)
2. Bill (Rad cover)
3. Ben (Sills, Rad cover)
IT shouldnt be 2 difficult just an array or 2 and some tickboxes and buttons.

What do you think? it would make the threads less confusing and easier to manage.

I believe that the events calendar already does this (at least it did).

yeah but people dont use it all the time. and if you want to see who is going you often have to check the thread and the calendar. and you cant use it for GBs

Good idea, those long lists for group buys always end up with missing people when 2 people quote the previous list at once

The calendar has a good roll-call feature, it's used by many but can't currently be incorporated into the thread itself... which is why the long lists continue to be used.

It's a very valid suggestion and something myself and a few others have asked for in the past.

There's a mods meet on Saturday so I will add this to the agenda to discuss.

cheers :)

I used to have a version of vBulletin a while ago. im sure a bit of clever database hacking could incorporate the two. (by someone much better at SQL than me) :p

Following the mods meeting today we all agree in principal to adding this functionality. However, Mawby has the tricky job of figuring out how to make it work.
