Hi guys and gals

Does anyone have any solutions to petrol spraying from the engine bay.!!??

It looks like a fuel line leading to the injectors but im no mechanic and it is hard to see, so i wondered if anyone has experienced the same and resolved it.

ive noticed a strong smell of petrol for the last week or so and now it is actually spraying out... i have recently had a clifford concept 650 autostart alarm put in... could the electrician have caused a problem when wiring?!!

I have 850cc injectors and a walbro pump. The petrol leaks when the pump primes with just ignition on but not started.

Obviously i wont be in the habit of starting it with this problem and i am waiting for a mechanic to have a look at it.

Id appreciate any sound advice.

Thanks

James

Can you see which end of the rail it comes from?

Maybe the fuel feed line has worked loose. Its right at the back of the rail. 17mm spanner i think.
If not that maybe the seal on the FPR has failed.

Ok mate thanks for the advice... is it a big deal to replace the seal or is it a question of fitting a new fpr?

By the way... if the seal on the fpr has failed then wouldn't that mean no preassure? the fuel in this case is spraying up

Ok heres the latest... we can't get it to do it anymore!? very strange... primed the pump several times and even started it up for a bit and nothing seems to be wrong .... Bit of a mystery..

Any ideas people?!

Have you got an FSE valve as your fuel pressure regulator? :)

Sounds like you need to check, very carefully, every fuel carrying component in and around the area of the leak. Even if it means taking it all off and inspecting visually for nicks, tears, kinks, dents etc.

Can't be chancing fuel doing that while you are driving, especially as the pressure increases as the boost goes up. And on top of that if it doesn't burst into flames you might drop so much pressure the engine runs lean and eats itself.

I just have a sard fuel regulator on its own.... All of the fuel lines are armoured .. it only did it after not using it for 2 weeks but now my mechanic cannot see any problems.... it still smells a bit though...

Well I only know of one thing ever on my car that fixed itself and that was a loose speaker connection :)

Ok. After much poking around we (well my brother) found fuel spraying from the top of one of the hoses on start up. Its only brief and all the poking around must have closed it over a bit and made it harder to find... so all i need is a replacement. Anyone know where i can get braided lines from at a good price?

Thanks

 Inspect with a lit match for better illumination
