Window Tints

If you get a good job done it really can inhance the look.

Each to their own I think. Some cars really don't suit it. :)

I've been quoted £160 For the main rear and the two tiny rear quarters, With a very light tint on the front two.

I've been told the police are quite hot on this, If it to dark you can be in a world of annoyance. :)

I dont really like these, but i need my rear 2 windows doing. The jap who had it before put some sort of tint on it, and the sun has bleached it or something, and it looks awful! Does anyone know somewhere i can get it done? down south?

i put this thread on a few weeks ago, i think it looks ok, the 2 lads are good, have a look at there web site and see what you think

Thought i would put a couple of pics on here of supra having just had the windows tinted yesterday, the guys that did it are great, one owns a skyline, very clean workers, not a bad price £190 all in. They work in the northants area but are happy to drive a little further afield if needed.

there web site is http://www.ogtinting.co.uk

they have a supra in there gallery but are going to put ours on there as well.

cheers

I need someone who'll do a dark tint on the front, was trying to get it done at GVN but was told that the people they use didn't have it dark enough....:(

think they may be a tad illegal:innocent:

but need my driver's side redoing due to a stone scratch done the inside...

tints look great imo when done properly. i know a really good place in leicester who do a great job as he only does tints from his unit so give me a shout if you get stuck.

mines slightly over the limit but dont get any trouble round here :)

I have tinted rear windows, and my insurance company are trying to squeeze another £195 out of me just because of this. I dont know why but i have not got a clue how they can justify that cost.

All my other mods are declared, but I mentioned 'I was getting' tinted windows and they said it will cost £195 to insure them!!

i did it for a living, yes tint can just peel of but it leaves a crap glue residue behind wich is a pita to get off. i will tint a soup all round for £120. the police will only check your pass and driver window if your taking the piss in my experience. ive tinted over 400 cars and only had to remove front tints twice, once on my range rover which admitidley were limo so was abit ott, and once when the particular officer had a bit of a vendetta with me! long story!. the tint goes funny and purple on imports because its crap tint and gets old.

as for that, id argue strongly, thats complete bollocks and ive not once had anyone have their preium increased. its an option from factory on most cars these days and as its glass is technically not a modification (ins stds agy)

How dark is your medium? I'm keen to keep them the same level of darkness as they currently are, I haven't had any bother with the old bill so far so will take my chances as I prefer the darker shading

What area do you cover, or do I need to get to you?

I wish I lived nearer to you, I'd be around in a shot. I want all mine done, light smoke all around I reckon.

OGTinting are the only people I know near me that do tinting, they've done at least one members car.

I'm up in Yarm from Friday till Monday this weekend. Anyone up there do window tinting at a good price

i was gonna say we could see if they'll do a group price if we get afew people in on it as i would like mine doin but if its £190 anyway i doubt it would save alot...best price i've had is £140 all in by Specialist Tint Ltd in dunstable so that seems the best bet - they've tinted all my cars previously & do a top notch job

louisjames, that's looking like advertising to me... please don't.

no...it isnt. its a hobby i do now, hence why its cheap. i do it for favours and cost is for materials. if i wanted to advertise id do it as a trader, which im not. its prob because the thread was about tinting which i know some what about!

I would suggest you need to apply for a HOBBYIST membership. We do allow for people who do things as a hobby when its small scale. If you take a look through the member rules it explains how the hobbyist membership works and as nobody else does window tinting then it would be a good addition to the club, especially with the prices you are quoting.

i would remove it myself, but dont wanna mess it up! hmmm, i wonder what can remove it! to be honest id prefer to have it removed for now, but we shall see.

you should heat it off with a heat gun, very very slowly, that way it takes the glue with it, other wise its a pita gettin the glue off. takes ages of pure elbow grease.

No doubt I will be corrected by some of our resident Police officers, but fronts can be done as long as they allow 75% of light through. Surrey Police have a devise, the name escapes me, that they use on roadside stops.

They can demand that the vehicle has the tint removed there and then and if not the vehicle can be impounded for failure to comply with some road traffic act/MOT thing!!
