What speakers HAVE you put in rear-side panels ('back seats') instead of originals (IF you have, that is):-

Sizes ?
Co-ax'/components ?
Round/oval ?
Under original grill/on/instead of ?

I'm gonna' do it, just mulling what/which !

Your choices MAY sway me . . . or then again maybe not.

As standard they are 17cm (6.5").
I've opted for a pair of Focal coaxial speakers and loads of Dynamat to seal the speakers properly. Using the standard mounting holes/grille.

Nice quality/easy life:)

I have just fitted some kenwood, 17cm rounds in the back of mine. Direct replacement for originals, sound 1000 X better and no messing about.

That's 2 for "original size - upgrade QUALITY".

I have recently replaced my rears with 17cm Infinity components coz I needed more bass (due to my stock sub being disabled and probably crap anyway). In the box you get 2 tweeters too but I can't be bothered to fit those just yet.

Infinity 16cm speakers in front too. Sound is so much better than stock. Still reckon I need a good sub though

Justin..

Did you just 'pull-the-grill-off' and replace them as it looks
in pic' or did you have to take the whole panel out ?

If 'from the front' did you have to make hole deeper for depth of
new speaker or was it deep enough ?

I used Infinty 2-ways in front - I do like the cream colour cones !

you can pull the grills off the back but the standard speakers are glued into their mounts and take a fair bit of persuasion to get out. but If you are replaceing with standard size try to do it this way, removing all the trim, back seat ect is quite a work up!

Steve W,

Rear:
Yeah I did just flip the speaker cover off with a large flathead screwdriver. Unscrewed the standard speakers and screwed in the new ones without any hassle at all.

Front:
Took off whole door trim, ripped out all the stock speaker assembly and attached my 16cm's to the door skin. Not ideal but it seems to be pretty good. ie no rattles/vibrations etc. They'll probably pop off into my lap whilst drivng though when I get a propper amp. I'm going to stick some foam in there at a later date. No where near as easy as the rears.

Another problem was that I had to use the new speakers grills which dont quite cover the hole left by the stock covers. But I can sort that out with some sort of black trim.

Cheers

Yes...

Already done the fronts - same way as you described.

Panel off, rip off grill, gut a big chunk out the 'sound-box'
(but put what was left back in to 'guide' window slider ? )

Mounted straight on door card with NEW grills on top.

(Put a 'ring' of stiff hardboard behind door-card to support.
Funnily, covered one 'hole' perfectly, just missed one edge
of other no matter how I tried).

TALLY-HO rears . . . . . . . . . (NO, I don't support Fox Hunting
- well.. not THAT sort anyhow - )

Steve.
