Guest evil_scooby
Im just coming to Supra ownership from having a 200sx and notice that most of the Supras are automatics. Just wondering if the automatics are still driftable or if it totally wrecks the experience ? Are they still slidey fun? Does the gear box kick down when you dont expect it and you cant hold a drift? Cheers for any help Ross
Scooter
it can be held in a gear and can drift as there is good power available.......however i found 1st a bit too harsh for normal roundabouts and 2nd sometimes too long a gear ie you are not high enough into the rev range with normal roundabout entry speeds..........you may be ok if your a bit more of a committed/experienced drifter.... Also just in case you didn't know some auto's don't have a LSD.......
Guest evil_scooby
oh, didnt know that. What autos dont have an LSD ? Is it an age thing or a model thing? What should I be looking for. Was wanting a supra with about 380bhp + Cheers

Guest DaveWilko
I had a 200sx S13. Great fun but the supra handles a lot better. Not ideal for drifting if you are entering competitions but you can have a lot of fun at junctions and roundabouts. Manual would be a better bet but autos hang tail very well
Scooter
oh, didnt know that. What autos dont have an LSD ? Is it an age thing or a model thing? most RZ auto's don't have them though they were available as an option on all models some some RZ's will! best way to tell (unless its beeen changed at a later date) is via the chassis plate.......... robert_gray
The auto's arnt too bad. you cant have to burnout feeling of a manual cus you cant pop the clutch but ias far as roundabout/tigh corners are concerned you can hold it in the gear (1-2-3 overdrive) you want. so long as you want full bore as you have no finite control on the clutch.
