I'd change it slightly mate.

1. Wash

2. Clay

3. Wash again

4. Polish/Wax

afaik you'll only actually need to put one layer of polish as most contain some sort of protector anyway (correct me if i'm wrong people).

only difference being if you're using some sort of paint cleaner/cleanser like Meg's 3 step or something in which case you obviously just go through the phases.

I've been meaning to ask a cleaning question for ages.

I did a "big" clean a couple of weeks ago.

Wash

Clay

Wash

Meg's 3 step.

Car's kept outside so trying to do this every 3 months.

Now I've done that what should my weekly routine be?

Just wash or

Wash +wax or

Wash+polish or

Wash+polish+wax?

Now this might be a bit daft, but sitting here in Denmark, I've got nooo idea what clay is... Could anybody fill me in?

It's a small clay bar. Using a suitable lubricant spray you rub it over the whole car one panel at a time. It removes all traces of dirt and impurities on the paint and leaves it really smooth and shiny.

this is my routine , for my top spec job

citrus degreaser on all lower panels arches and alloys , clean alloys , snow foam arches and alloys, leave for a few mins and rinse off.

snow foam whole car , leave a few mins rinse off

2 buckets sonax gloss shampoo in one clean in the other

sheepskin wash mitt.

start at the top work down.

after rinsing and before drying i clay the car , rinse again and then dry .

once dry apply whatever you are favouring as a wax/polish
