Hi guys,

I was on the forum for a while and lastly decide to post.

Starting with my info. This is Abdul from Dubai, working as a travel specialist, also a proud Supra owner (96 model).

I was thinking to get an S2000 but changed my mind for this lady and I was luck enough to find a supra GCC specs (Gulf Specs - left hand drive), the below are specifications

* 2JZ - Injector (N/A)

* 5 speed manual - with LSD

* Full leather interior

* Cruise Control.

The car has done till now 48000 kilometers round the clock. The first owner was from Holland, never abused the car.

Till now the supra is totally stock, the modds till now it has a K&N air filter (replaced with stock ones), Cusco Front and rear strut bars and 19" rims (http://www.antera.com Type 343)

The offset is

235/35 R19 - Front (Michelin Pilot Sport Tires)

275/30 R19 - Rear (Kumho Ecstatic Tires)

The problems that i am facing.

Problem 1. My rear tires are touching the rear fenders. I have checked for possible solution but din’t come with a solution. I have attached some pictures. May be they might help

* Any idea what alignment I should be looking for for this offset.

* Rolling the rear fenders. I was about to do it but few friends told me that the fenders might get weak. Is that true?

* Thirdly, fixing adjustable shocks. I don’t mind getting a decent shocks but I cant fix them. The reason being is, I will be taking the supra for some Autocross and if I change the shocks I will be moved to modified class, where I will be running with most of the devils. Being just 21 and having experience of almost 1 year in karting and 2 years of driving on streets, I have very less chances of wining any thing.

Problem 2. I am a great rock fan, love head banging. I need to replace the original speaker with some good speakers for rock music. I don’t want put in subwoofer and get a good sound system coz I think the car might put on more weight and I might lose some seconds while racing. I would like to know, what are the sizes of speaker for the front and back and what will be your recommendations for good speakers? I have searched for possible threads but I dint find the right size and good speaker for Supra.

Your comments are most welcomed.

Welcome :)

Not sure about the fenders, but I'd guess that your options would be to change the tyres to 265 profile, change the wheels to an offset closer to stock, or roll the arches.

Front speakers are 4", but can be replaced with 6.5" if you make a wooden template for them. Rears are 6.5" as standard.

You need to find out what the offset of the wheels are - for example +35 - the values you have provided are just the tyre profiles.

Thanks for the replies. A friend is going to help me out alignment first. If that wont help, I will roll the rear fenders. I don't want to use the stock rims coz I will be using for racing. Semi slicks are on there way.

Bob - thanks for the useful reply. The offset of the wheels are on the bills but cant find them. The only thing i remember is that the same off set fits the Z350.

Mrs H - yes, I can but it all depends when you wish to travel.

Tomssupra - Well quite near to Jumeirah Emirates Towers (Bur Dubai).

any body on the forum had faced similar problems?

gaz1 - Well why don’t I invite you all :D

The guys might organize TOTB tour Arabia again next year and I might help them to organize the event. It would be great to have you all here. Last year we had 3 skylines and couple of evo’s from UK.

uzthedentist - Emirates Hills is a nice place but Dubai is facing huge construction which we hope that it would be ready by 2011 including the Metro. It would be nice to meet you, once you are down.

I do have couple of pictures of supra in Dubai. Most of them are not driven daily. Cops all around, I have been lucky till now driving my supra daily from home to work. These pictures are taken from one of the forum which I only check for pictures.

We do have a supra club and I am one of the member but the guys are more interested attracting women and more into show off. I would pray that I would have few member of the supra club UAE join me for various competition.

Hope you like the pictures.

According to the laws by RTA (Road & Transport Authorities) any modification (Body or Engine) is strictly illegal and this rule applies only in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi (cities in UAE). However, if you have good influence or Deep pockets then no problems with authorities.

As an alternative many of the guys register their vehicles in other cities (Ras Al Khaimah or Umm Al Quawain). They don't mind registering vehicle even if it’s fully stripped, 12pt roll cage, 1000+HP but one has to go through various channels to get it done.

It is more Economical for guys since they pay less and even get a right hand car registered. But then these cars don’t have any re-sale value at all.

For your info, importing right hand Japanese cars is very cheap here. Cost of importing a vehicle is around US$ 822 per car (this cost includes insurance and cost for other formalities)

And prices Supra, Skyline (R34), Silvia, Subaru, Corolla - AE86 etc starts from US$ 4100 to US$ 18000(mint condition with countless modds)

The only problem we face is, there are not many good Tuners and performance parts available in UAE.

Hello again,

I got the offset of the rims.

Front 8.5" x 19" ET29

Rear 9.5" x 19" ET 31

Now I am looking for a decent alignment for the above offset. Please help?

Hello and welcome to the club :)

My advice would be to bin the wheels and fit some stock 17" wheels. The car's handling will be optimal like this. The aftermarket wheels you have are too big / heavy / wrong offset for any serious track / fast road competition work.

Cheers,

Brian.
