View Full Version : 2.5 TT Conversion?
Has this ever been done? I have a full Soarer 2.5 TT conversion sat here if anyone wants to do something different. £2500 fitted. :search: Dunno if this is a desirable thing to do or not to be honest.
Hasn't Thor done this conversion? I'm sure their Supra at JAE had the Soarer engine in it.
EDIT: http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Supra_V8_nonTurbo-251.asp
Nope it was the 4.0 L Soarer engine.
i wonder what kind of final power output you could get
Stick it in a NA 5spd... should make an interesting little car... Might make the 5spd last a bit longer as well...
Kinda like a supra 1 and 1/2 ....
The 2.5 (1JZ??) is very tunable. I've seen a couple of 700+bhp Soarers. If it doesnt sell on her i might sling it in out aerotop. :)
I believe there is some talk of using a mix of 2jz and 1jz bits to create a rather nice engine. I can't remember which way round it is though.
1JZ in a MkIV has been done in Australia and the US.

1JZ head on 2JZ block = 1.5JZ. Only worth it if you have already uprated the 1JZ's turbos, I reckon, or perhaps if you use a GE block.
This supe has a soarer 1JZ iirc but dont think it was tt:)
how much power is the 1jz standard??
How much power is the 1JZ standard?Standard Japanese 280.
Can't see the point to be honest, now it would be nice to drop a 2JZ into mine:d
Soarers are great cars and very tunable :)
The 2JZ is essentially a stroked version of the 1JZ. A tuned 1JZ would be nice and capable of running a higher rev limit than the 2JZ. Worth thinking of if you were thinking about swapping out an NA engine... not sure it's worth swapping out a 2JZ for one though.
Mkiiisupra.net :d
its a more desirable swap if you add a 1jz flywheel and r154 bell housing, then its an easy swap for the manual turbo peeps.
