I got to thinking on all the 'it could be you' malarky and thought, this is a big club, has anyone ever won more than £100?

I've usually get a tenner every month or so, but won £110 on the dream number last month. Thats my only "big" win since the lottery started.

A guy in my local had 5 and the bonus ball. He won about £140k. Paid his and his mums mortgage off and that was it all gone!

A woman who lives in my mate's road won £10M. She gave her two chav sons 1m each.
One of them spent the lot in 6 months and was back begging her for more. Mind you, he had a nice car and stunning looking girlfriend. Strange really because his GFs before he had a million were all munters. Odd that.

A bloke in redruth about 40 mins from where I live won £450k twice

Here is the article.

Derek Ladner £958,284
A bowling fanatic from Redruth has literally doubled his money after winning two £479,142 shares of the jackpot - £958,284 in total - in the Lotto draw on Wednesday 11th July. This makes him the first ever single publicity jackpot winner to have won twice in the same Lotto draw.

This fantastic double helping of lottery luck happened as a result of a fortuitous mistake, after delivery driver, Derek Ladner, forgot that he already had bought his ticket that week and bought another one using his regular numbers. By another quirk of fate both tickets were bought at Tesco stores, one in Redruth the other in Penzance.

Derek commented: "It has really not sunk in yet. To win the jackpot once is amazing but to win it twice is unbelievable. Especially as I picked up my first prize and had forgotten about the other ticket. It was only a day or two after I remembered I had it."

Derek and his wife, Dawn, who are both avid bowlers and play for Bickford Smiths Bowling Club in Tuckingmill, cannot believe the timing of their windfall as Derek is due to retire on Friday. The couple are now making plans for the future - as well as modernising their house in Redruth, they are planning a luxury holiday to Tenerife. They will also be spending some time enjoying their hobbies of bowling and supporting Redruth Rugby Club.

Derek said: "The two wins could not have come at a better time! We had already made a lot of plans for our retirement together. This win means we can now really enjoy ourselves a lot more and treat our friends and family."

A syndicate I ran at a previous company I worked at won around £1,500, but that was when the lottery first started. Once I'd shared the win amongst the 12 involved, there was not a lot left to put towards the yacht, mortgage etc! ;)

Ive always thought whats the point. your morgage aint the a hardship just something everyone pays. he might have well solded up and used the 140K as a deposist of a new amazing house.

Idiot! really pisses me off that, £1million is enough to sort you out for life. set up your own business of get onto that high ends of the housing market debt free. buy a really nice car and still have money left..

I think you need around £3million nowadays to live the life of a millionaire so I've heard. So £1million is small change really, especially if you're inherently an idiot as you say ;)

You lucky git! We have a yet another 11 member syndicate going at work here for Premium Bonds, and in the 19 months we've invested (£10 each per month), we've won absolutely bugger all! At least our investment is still there, unlike wasting money on the lottery.

Never entered it myself.

A friend's parents have won the big one - £6mil or so, I think. Bought her a house and car, but that's it for now. Her parents have, of course, retired, but she still works at the office with my missus.

I don't suppose your work syndicate has anywhere near that much in it, d they?

My in-laws both have the max amount of PBs but they don't do as well as Col does.

I should add this is my first 3 months of investment :D so there is plenty of time for it to not pay out. but at the moment it is giving a 10% return which is very good.
Fingers crossed it remains as good :D

I've never won a bean cos I don't play it except for the odd scratch card.
A fella I from a different depot in my company who used to show his face in our office every now and again won £100k about six months ago though. Think he's still working as well even though he's 60-odd!

Well actually no we don't anywhere near that amount, more like £2,000! We haven't even won a £50 bonus in that time, and supposedly its comparable to Building Society interest. Pah!

My fellow syndicate members think I bought the Supra with the money, and haven't owned up to any wins! Gits. ;)

My best mate got 5 numbers and the bonus ball - he was in a 3 way syndicate with his Mom and Dad so didn't get it all. Not quite £140k for him though! Loads of winners that week so it was £55k - split 3 ways.

So he had about £18k at 21 years old! As you can imagine it didn't last long. Paid off his exsiting debts then went out and bought an Impreza (not so chavy at the time - about 7 years ago), a Raptor quad, KX250, huge TV, DVD, stereo etc etc

Blew the lot!

I should put a roll eyes smiley after that but as his best mate it felt like I'd won too! I did tell him to save some but couldn't help but want him to buy the Raptor!! I was sooo excited!:D

We used to play when it was first set up!

Now we play lottery roulette, we never buy a ticket and count up how much money we've saved when the numbers that we used to have don't come up:d Based on that we are quids in:p

we all dream about winning the lottory, how do you think you would all handle it, what would you do with the money and would you still work?

I would prob's go crazy when i realised i had the numbers i would be like a kid at christmas, not able to sleep lol, however i would keep it on the downlow only telling close family, i personelly would and wouldnt go to wild with the money i would handel it sensibly however i would get a nice home wouldnt know what other car to buy probs a Aston or a lambo because if you win the lotto you have to have a dream car, either that or completely fine tune and rebuild your supra :P then i would take a long break abroad, share it out to family then invest the rest then live off the interest, i wouldnt know if to still work.. i mean i feel i would be bored without work, possibly work for a charity or with animals.

Well you're already way above the average payout % for a year then.
NS&I reckon you'll average about 15 wins per year with a 30k investment. If you've had more than 1.5 wins from your 3k stake you're well ahead of the game.

Apparently there are 400million new PBs sold every month so the chance of winning must be getting worse all the time.

I started with a set of six numbers at the very beginning. Each week I sat and watched the show with my sisters and old dear (not through choice but they were addicted to the hype). Each and every week I didn't get a single number. After week seven there was only 6 numbers left that had never come up, guess which exact numbers they were?? YUP mine.

Similar happened with my horse gambling. I bet for the first time ever on a grand national. You can probably guess which one it was YUP the only one that ever got canceled.

For this reason I never gamble period. I buy raffle tickets but I actually see this completely as donating to charity as I have yet to ever win anything and I buy practically any sob story raffle ticket going :)

My ex wife nearly won the jackpot with the work syndicate with only 5 of them in it. But the person buying the ticket split the regular numbers across two lines to make it more of a chance..... and guess what?

Yup, the regular numbers came up!!

They nearly killed her.

My dad won £1500. He worked out thats about the same as hed spent on it since it started though, so may as well not bothered :)

My Aunt won £75K on an old ticket she was about to bin though, checked it on the off chance! Prooved nice things can happen to people as shed just got over cancer as well

Then at the other end of the spectrum, my sister had the misfortune to have the "king of the chavs" (cant remember his name - tit who won the lottery) move in next door to her for a few months, completely trash the place and move out again, leaving drug stashes buried all over the place

I however, have never won even a tenner, and dont bother playing it anymore. Even if i did win id forget to check the numbers :p

My cousin won £3.2m as part of a four man syndicate, i.e. they EACH got £3.2m. There were 4 jackpot tickets that week and as they had a big spread system, they scooped 2 full 6 numbers, several 5 and 4 numbers across the whole spread.

He didn't really go mad at all, had a few holidays, bought one of Schumy's helmets, followed the GPs for a year, bought a house out of town then sold it for £400,000 profit and moved back into town to be with his mates. He gave each family member £5k each, which was very welcome.
No kids, no flash cars, he's got more now, through interest, than when he started.

My dad won just over a grand split between him and his mate once, he's won ~£700 on the irish lottery too. Think my mum has won a couple of hundred in a work syndicate or something. I've won a few tenners but that's it.

I still remember when the lottery hadn't been running that long and a mate of mine's girlfriend was buying her first ticket and couldn't think what numbers to pick. I told her to pick 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.... She didn't, but she'd have won a tenner if she did :D
