Turbo worrys

Everyday im looking on here, autotrader, ebay and piston heads for my UK Spec TT

 

Now my main worry is if i blow a turbo... what actualy happens, does the car ground to a hult till i fix it, or will it actualy still run but just like a sack of shit till its replaced... how does this usualy work. thanks guys, im learning fast

Usually its the oil seal that goes, this means it will belch oil into the exhaust causing a lot of smoke. The car will drive but it really isn't advisable!

 

It's not that common TBH, it mainly happens when people start messing around with the boost, if it's kept stock it really shouldn't be a concern.

Normally as Homer says, on the UK spec it is the seals that go first, on the J-specs it is usually the ceramic exhaust side that disintegrate and disappears out of the exhaust.

 

...or you could be REALLY unlucky like me and the engine digests the turbo, which is not pretty :cry:
