Alarm recommendations

The UK spec alarm on my car failed on Saturday meaning I couldnt go to Time Attack at Brands Hatch.

Im looking to get Matt Harwood to fit a new alarm for me but Im wondering what alarm systems people recommend. I dont want to spend more than about £250 including fitting so what options are out there?

I had an alarm fitted on Saturday. The car came without one which was a bumper for insurance purposes. I shopped about and theres not much on the market for under £250 fitted.

Mine was £250 fitted and its a (toad sterling one) cat 1.

Does everything you need it to do.

I have a Clifford 600 and think it's great. It's got everything I need and more with lots of adjustability. I'm sure there are better and cheaper ones around but Clifford is familiar and user friendly IMO so i'm sticking with it.

i have the 650p concept and i love it, a bargain IMo at £550 fitted.

I've got a Sigma in the 964 and I can't remember what in the Supra.

I can't comment on how good the Sigma is really, since I'm not a car thief. But the thing I do like about it is that it has a super-alarm feature. It's got a keypad, and you can key in a code which will disable the remote keyfobs after you've locked the car. You then have to open the car manually the next time (which means setting the alarm off), and enter a pin code to disable the alarm / immobiliser. After that, the key fobs work again.

Given how often cars are stolen by people breaking into houses and stealing the keys these days I like that feature. I use it whenever I'm away from the house for a few days on business / holiday.
