Great advice there mate.

Unfortunately it's still illegal to drive without a tax disc on show so he could still get done for it ;)

Not displaying a valid tax disc is an offence itself, regardless of whether the car is taxed or not.

I got a ticket for not displaying tax, due to the warden being a lazy bugger and not looking at the other side of the windscreen..

Went down to the station and they said as long as it's on the DVLA DB it's fine.

Wouldn't want to say that would work in this case though.

Apologies if that was directed at me also, Jake.

Perhaps the sarcasm didn't come through from me...wrong smiley perhaps? :D

I got a ticket for not displaying tax, due to the warden being a lazy bugger and not looking at the other side of the windscreen.. You were lucky to get away with that. The disc is supposed to be displayed on the nearside. I've heard of people being getting done for 'failure to display' because of exactly the same thing.

Phew.. Better move it tonight then.

That was years ago on my MK1 Capri.. :)

Jake

I would mate.
Apparently if it's not displayed on the nearside it makes it dangerous for cops/wardens to check them properly.

Hey what ever, just giving the dude advice from what i know works from experience. But what do i know anyways;) But i do know they check to see if a car has tax via the DVLA system.
Against the law not to display yes but who hasn't broke the law this week in there cars.....hands up.
Also did you know that its also illegal to take a pig into Chester on a Sunday from Wales. I sh1t you not, 1600 something:D

Just need to get the bugger to stick now.. :d

What happens if you're parked the oppisite way round to normal, surely that's not illegal?

If it is, well lets just say that they will be able to read the Tax disk ok at the mo..

What happens if you're parked the oppisite way round to normal, surely that's not illegal? It's definitely illegal to park facing the wrong way after dark, I'm not sure whether it is in daylight though. It wouldn't surprise me, TBH.

I believe it's illegal to park facing the other way, as you'd have to drive on the wrong side of the road to get there...

You can park on which ever side of the road ya like. Facing any direction.

MrRalphMan

Parking at night
222: You MUST NOT park on a road at night facing against the direction of the traffic flow unless in a recognised parking space.
Laws CUR reg 101 & RVLR reg 24

223: All vehicles MUST display parking lights when parked on a road or a lay-by on a road with a speed limit greater than 30 mph.
Law RVLR reg 24

224: Cars, goods vehicles not exceeding 1525kg unladen, invalid carriages and motorcycles may be parked without lights on a road (or lay-by) with a speed limit of 30 mph or less if they are

at least 10 metres (32 feet) away from any junction, close to the kerb and facing in the direction of the traffic flow
in a recognised parking place or lay-by. Other vehicles and trailers, and all vehicles with projecting loads, MUST NOT be left on a road at night without lights.
Law RVLR reg 24

Jake is right as usual... :)

Better get out before dark... Might be fun reporting cars down my street to the police.. :eyebrows:

You cant park facing the wrong way at night, UNLESS
1/ its a recognised parking space.
2/ you own a Ferrari

At night?Yes and at night. Providing you use the proper procedure to enter the parking space and also to leave it. Then you can why not?.

Might be fun reporting cars down my street to the police.. :eyebrows: Thats an interesting point, because i live in a village thats heavily populated by police officers, who park on any side of the road that takes em. In fact we all do:)
EDIT:Also in our local town of Ashbourne right out side the Police station there are parking spaces and the police cars park against the traffic and with the flow of traffic. I just might send them a letter ey LOL!!

I'd love to tell you, but I'm a moderator so sometimes I have to be nice to people.

But seriously, don't give out ill thought out and incorrect advice. You might think it in jest but some of our members take advice literally sometimes, and I wouldn't want to see that sort of advice encouraged here.

And I've taken the liberty of translating your post incase some people had difficulty in understanding what you were saying. Just for clarity. ;)

You drive a Ferrari, yet joined a Supra owners forum. I think thats quite cool. Either way, theres a lot of gentle pish taking and banter on here, nowt to get upset about.
Now wheres that pic I took of all the dropped oil and water left behind after a Ferrari Owners Club left our car park:)

No worries, no offence taken, as Ewen said, we all like the banter, it's what make this place fun. :)
