is reseting the ecu an expensive job?

no mate you have 2 choices you diconnect the battery for 2 minutes or take out the ecu fuses for 2 minutes, use the seach button and you will come across the guide to the 2 fuses you need to take out, you have checked they havent overfilled the oil as that can cause big problems;)

well i gave the guy 6litres of fully synthetic oil and i was given half a litre back so he only used 5 and a half litres.

check it anyway mate;) just sounds odd that its happened after you had it changed, but sounds like bad overfueling to me, you should put this in tech really as you would get more knollegeable advice;)

Is it a turbo or NA?

As Gaz says black smoke means overfuel. Blueish smoke means oil.

(Flippin heck Gaz, you're on the ball these days :D )

i am learning from you guys and i bought a book:p now get back in the techie section and read my thread;):D

dont no mate didint dare drive it. do you think it would be safe to?

Start it up, see if the idle is smooth, then blip the throttle. If you get black smoke then you have a major boost leak.

If there is no smoke then take it a up the road (just a few tens of feet should tell you) and see if it stutters of misfires and again check for smoke. It doesn't hurt to have someone watch for the smoke behind the car!

i noticed it was pouring out my exhaust on idle. while i was driving it durin the day it was fine

imo i would reset the ecu take it for a gentle blast and have someone follow you, but remember thats my opinion:D and as homer said check all the obvious boost and intercooler pipes
