OK, so this might be my mind playing tricks on me, but I'm certain that it's not. Just wondered if there was a technical explanation!

When driving, if you (for example) lift off the throttle in gear, and then plant it, it's as if you've suprised the engine, and it doesn't seem to pick up very quick.
However if you gently ease into the power until you're full throttle after a second or so, it seems to accelerate a lot better!

I'd understand if it was only the first initial response to the 'suprise' or 'gentle' throttle, but this acceleration difference stays with it all the way through to the redline!!! Why is that?

Obviously this must be how some drivers are faster out of corners and what have you, by 'feeling' the car and getting the power out of it more 'naturally'.
