electric rad fans

Hi all,

A friend of mine has been told that power gains of near 10hp can be had from getting one of these fitted and relieving the small demand made on the engine from driving the standard red fan belt.

This sounds a bit hopefull, anyone know if there is any truth in it??

If so wouldnt it be a worth while mod?

Thanks, ben.

The stock viscous fan moves more air than almost any aftermarket electric unit, most people leave it as is.

I think 10hp is a bit optimistic.

Given the amps a couple of fans can draw on start up, i would Imagen that the extra load on the alternator would sap just as much BHP;) don't forget that they will be turning on and off frequently if set up right.

Are their any threads with tests to support these claims?

Would make an interesting read.

Cheers
