Guest wanabe supra
Hi I was wondering what the differace in power is between the j-spec TT and the UK I have read on here that the import is the same as the UK running 320hp (ish) But other have said it is bull and only running 280 ish. The same as the GTO,s an 300zx. Or is it something they have to say when importing them? Also does anyone know the 1/4 mile 0/60 and 0/100 for both models Thanks in advance Dave:cool:

Guest wanabe supra
Hi Thanks for that. that is where i read it from (quote) Why does the import TT version only have 280bhp compared to the UK’s 325bhp? It doesn’t. The big three Japanese manufacturers came to a gentlemen’s agreement to limit the power of their cars to 280bhp so as to avoid a costly development race to develop ever faster and more powerful performance cars. So while the J-Spec Supra is quoted as having only 280bhp it’s actually got the same amount as the UK version. Toyota basically just told a fib. Perfectly stock J-Spec TT cars have been on the dyno and come out at 325bhp, so you can largely forget about this myth. (Quote) But some still say its bull. So i was just wondering on peopls opinions Cheers Dave:cool:
Conrad
Nar it's true. Some people on here have seen stock Jspecs on the rollers making 320hp... My old Sup made 389hp after going BPU - if it was 280hp originally it couldn't have made an extra 110hp with those mods
Bobbeh
Whether one is more powerful than the other, its not worth arguing about.. its all much of a muchness. Once you start modding its irrelevant anyway
Lewis
From : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentlemen%27s_agreement Text: A now-defunct agreement between the major Japanese auto manufacturers to limit the maximum engine power of their cars to 280 PS (206 kW or 276 hp). Hence imports listed as 280bhp! They all made cars WAAAAY over 280hp they just listed it as 280 in the documentation.
