before anyone says it yes ive used the search button.

right,as anyone had the aircon re-gassed at prickfit ? jspec that is.

reason i ask is,took mine to the one at worksop yesterday and the moron said "wont touch it mate its an import and they use different gas".

he also said, did one at newark and fooked it up.

took it to another garage round the corner, two blokes who looked like they knew what they were talking about said no problem and prickfit were talking bo*****s.

so,is their a member from newark had the air con naffed by them?

Take it to a specialist and that's not what Kwik Fit offer. The service they offer is fine for modern cars and even UK spec Supras but they have all been told not to touch anything that is stickered up as not only can they stuff your aircon but it'll bugger their machines up (cost a fortune as well!).

Think Ibar was doing a recharge service but not sure if he can drain the old stuff off as well?

I had mine done at kwick fit about 4 months ago and no problem whats so ever! They just didnt like you ;)

Basically all you there is put your car on the ramp (yes i even did that lol) and then he plugs the machine in, 40mins later jobs a good-un :)

But if your near Ibrar I'd get him to do it... I will next time!

lol, nothing to do with not liking him ;)

Can't make this any clearer, even if you have the new pipe fittings if you don't have a sticker clearing stating what gas is in the system then no Kwik Fit branch should touch your air con, more than their jobs worth

All mkiv's use r134 gas so kwik fit are talking bo££ocks. Only a few cars still use r12. Any aircon "expert" should at least have access to the guide book that lists the gas type and weight for all models.

I'd just go to Ibrar anyway.

I think R12 was only used in pre-1993 cars, so the Mk IV should be fine. I think Japan went 134a earlier than the UK as well, so there's even less chance of any Supra being R12.
