Hallo Chaps,

Tis my first post, I am aiming to buy a UK spec supra TT-auto after getting an astonishing quote of a mere £994 from Elephant dispite having 0 no claims !!!

The plan is to get the Abflug body kit, decent traction control (is it needed for UK spec???) and leave the engine in tact (325bhp is more then enough !).

If anyone can give me tips that'd be awesome, especially on the damn Abflug kit, I cant find anywhere that sells it no more !

Money is not really a probo, finding the kit is :{

The UK spec TC is a LOT better than the J-spec, so should be ok, if you dont like it go for RLTC

Welcome :D

LOL sorry dude, I didnt even know someone had that name !
I cant beleive how quick the responses are here too.

I ll definately consider the Race logic TCS, looks very swanky but I d have to go for the £700/800 version with the display, I am a gadget man.

Whats the cheapest quotes you people have had?

Well, i was basing it on the UK TC being quite different....

IIRC, and im totally basing this on recall, since its too late to bother searching...

UK senses slip from ABS and has feed to the braking system on the 2 rear wheels, reducing slip that way, and i think the TCS system itself in the throttle body is quite different...

Many thanks Rob ! I think my answer of whether I need it lies in this document, looks like I have a lotta reading to do.

No problem dude. i would advise you get the car and see how you find the various things like the body and TC system first, you might not hate it that much :)

Who needs TC, i have a nats off 570bhp and i dont use it on my UK spec :)

Its crap anyway, it comes on if you go round bends/roundabouts too fast and puts you in a right cufuffle.

UK spec sucks donkey balls, it's obviously better than the J-Spec setup just because it's on a UK but it's still pants.

Original poster - if you plan to destroy a Supra with the Abflug please do so with a J-Spec, there aren't enough UK cars left as it is.

Hallo everyone,

Still looking about to get a UK supra but I was wondering if there is a simple way to find one by just looking at the interior picture of a car.

I know the UK model only has 3 dial light clusters but is there anything that makes it conclusive to being made in the UK just based on photos?

missed this first time round..

UK spec TC is better than j-spec, but only in the same way that eastenders is better than Corination Street. Both are seriously annoying and if you took them away would you notice the difference?

The UK spec system runs an additional braking circuit for the rear wheels to try to control the slip better. I found it more intrusive than the j-spec system as it sort of does its job but mostly interfers with what you are doing, where the j-spec is all or nothing and soon as it kicks in you reach down on turn it off. Sadly my emanage didnt like the stock TC so it was removed.

The only interior differences other than ivory leather / carpets on certain colours are things like the button for the headlamp washers, heated seat buttons and the different terminolgy on the traction control - TRC vs SLIP I think? Difficult to spot on a small photo though.

The 3 dials are found on J-Spec cars of the same age, the facelift ones got the later design so don't use that as an identifying factor, a UK won't have the newer dash but the majority of J-Spec cars will have the same 3 dial one as the UK.

also the heated seat switches next to the traction control button. j-specs never got the bum warmer option.

Personally I wouldn't try and get an Abflug kit. A genuine one is very rare and very expensive and very very expensive to fit. There are some copies on ebay, and an abundance of the silver weave carbon fibre effect copies as well. As many a member here can testify, those kits are sh1t in terms of fitment and quality.

IIRC there is only one genuine Abflug fitted S900 kit here and that is Whitesupraboy2's car, and even he and the previous owners of th car have had problems with the kit.

And as an aside, will Elephant cover the mods to your car?
